I'm just curious how many of the pro-carry commenters have actually shot or killed someone. It all sounds great in theory, but you might feel differently after it happens.

I'm curious how many of the anti-gun pacifists have ever been the victim of a truly bad situation, or watched somebody else get victimized and been able to do nothing...if they even cared. I'm also curious how many are also guilty of having done things, or planning to do things, that would possibly get them shot by somebody defending person and/or property. I can't imagine that a predatory type would be pro-CCW.

No, I have not ever shot anybody, and am completely "pro-carry" as you call it.

I won't pretend to know how I'll feel after an incident, because I cannot see into the future, but I'm pretty sure that I'll feel like a million bucks after protecting my own, or my families lives, and dispatching a piece of shit from this world. sorry, but I just don't hold trash that's willing to do harm to others in such high regard.

Don't bore me with your pacifism. I see death on a regular basis, and have yet to feel arbitrary emotional grief solely based on the occurrence of a life being extinguished. I cannot understand the thought process of ignoring evil and maybe it will leave you alone. When has this ever worked??

For me, coexistence on this planet can be summed up by a simple mantra.

"treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse".

As far as not wanting to take a life over "stuff", if a pair of people were to try to crash me on my bike, I am not concerned with the bike at this point as much as I'm concerned about just what else they are willing to do since they've already made clear they can care less about my life and/or safety.

Criminals who prey upon others are total scum. I'd feel more remorse for shooting a dog than one of them. It's not the value of something that's stolen, the real crime is that that person is destructive of society as a whole. Ever since man realized that life would be better if everyone worked together as a society, the laws that were adopted mainly dealt with anti-social behavior. The Ten Commandments are an example. Don't steal. Don't murder. Leave your neighbor's wife alone. Any of these things was destructive to the community as a whole, and the punishments could be severe, including death and banishment under pain of death for returning.

Because of the increase in population, this concept has become fuzzy and people today don't realize the damage that's done until something like Detroit's situation occurs. I don't see much of a solution for the city as long as the courts keep releasing these individuals back onto the streets.

If you're gonna carry, carry open. It's 1: honest. and 2: an actual deterrent.

It also says "SHOOT ME FIRST!" Better to wait until asshole looks the other way, then put one through his head.

.... but the group of pond scum that had intended to do me harm one evening at a remote job sight many years ago. Fully believed that I would, and luckly they didn't stick around to see how it would feel after it happened.
There's a saying that goes something like; We could go through our whole life and never have the need for a gun, but that one moment that we do, we'll need it really bad and really NOW. Truer words were never spoken.
And I beg to differ that this all sounds "great in theory". It sounds like crap in theory, even worse in reality! The fact that we are discussing this subject at all really freaking sucks! But it is the reality we live in today. I'd like to think that everyone contributing to this thread are basicaly good people, be they:" pro-carry's, no-carry's, pacifist's, activists, sheep or shepards." At some point in our lives we will all either be victoms of crime or a criminals bad day. Be exellant to each other! End rant.

I think a better question to ask yourself is? How many of us out here have taken a life defending the people you love and your whiny ass? Some of us took an oath to defend OUR rights and OUR country by any means necessary. When those that I love, or any other innocent lives are endangered, (this includes you) I will use deadly force where appropriate. You go ahead and light your candles, and have your drum circles, see how much protection that affords you from those wanting to do you harm.

My only hope is that one of us pro-carrys has the opportunity to save the life of a Pacifist so he understands that Turning the Other Cheek doesn't always work.
