...yeah it's not really a great two-up bike unless maybe your pillion is a svelte lil thing.
The day I brought mine home, the wife went for a spin with me around the block.
When we got back she got off and threw her jacket at me.
Never did get back on the bike again...but I didn't complain...

Glad you found your bike Pasta. I came real near to buying an '07 Tiger.
But I can work on my '08 R12R myself.
And yes, the newer ABS is great, all around best brakes I've had on any Beemer.

Scarabs... If this bike has Remus, would the concern you're talking about still matter?

...probably not. Remus is a good choice IMO.
They all install the same, two hanger hooks under the tail section.

If the Remus is just a slipon probably yes since the problem occured in the collector at the bottom, unless that's been removed.

That's what the collector (not sure if that's the right english term for it) looks like...

Loosing the cat is the best bang for the buck even if you have stock cans.
You can pick up the collector fairly inexpensive.

Thumb Rapid dog bar risers

If you own an R1100S - get a set of rapid dog's bar risers.

Unbelievable comfort comes with fitting these magic items. I was going to sell the bike after a week, it was so uncomfortable for me. Too short a test ride hid the comfort issue.

Now?

Perfect.

Im looking at one of these too. How far can you go with bar backs/risers without having to install new (longer) cables?

Barbacks

They set the bars +/- 1.5" back and about +/- .75" higher. than the top of the triple comfort bars.

www.rapiddog.net

R1100S bikes that came from the factory with ABS regardless of the sport (low) bars or ;comfort; (above the top tripletree) don't need a longer brake hose.
Low bar bikes that are non-ABS need a longer hose from the master, about 2.5".

I'm doing a run as we speak. If interested e-mail me: order@rapiddog.net
Or check it out in the ADV Vendors forum here.

Low bars and ABS

Having just installed theses, I can confirm - all cables are fine with the Rapid Dog barbacks if you have the ABS Low Bars.

My back and shoulders are loving the relief.

Handling is not quite as good once the speeds increase as the weight taken off the front is noticeable. Still quick, just have to hang off a bit further and lean towards the front of the bike.

A trade off much appreciated as I wouldn't even make it as far as the good corners without the risers.

Around town is a lot better for steering and manoeuvring.

Staintune

I have a standard exhaust, and it is too quiet. Cars don't hear me and I think there is a great tune ready come out - for the missus, the spend is all safety

So - I have the opportunity to buy a 2nd hand staintune for $AUD 1000 (near enough USD 1,000 these days), fitted. Still negotiating to keep my original in the price.

Would this be a good deal?

Any idea how many 2000 BMW R1100SA(SE) Special Edition bikes BMW built?
That would be the Silver/Yellow one.
A fellow over on the Pelican forum, claims that only 200 were made.
Any idea how I may confirm that?
Thanks and ride safely.

Don't get too excited and pay extra. The only thing special is the paint.
The bikes are great, tho. He is just trying to get extra for something that will not go up in value just due to a paint job.
