Question KTM 950 ADV - 10W/60 ok???

Hi guys,
my local KTM agent recently stop using the recommended oil for my KTM 950 ADV, the 10W/50.
I was informed by them that i could use the 10W/60, that there is no problem, but i'm having some doubts.

Is it ok to use the 10W/60 over the 10W/50 or this could mean issues?
Are there any benefits using the 10W/60?

You have probably answered a thousand questions about this doubt, but i could not find it.

Thank you in advance!

Olá
Esta é uma dúvida que me tem andado a "martelar" na cabeça
O teu mecânico/agente KTM referiu alguma coisa em particular sobre o uso deste óleo?

I've recently changed my oil from 10w60 to 10w 50 and now it have a clatter sound when cold, untill the oil is warm and is in the camchain tensioner, so im actualy thinking of going back to the 10w 60, the motor sounds more smooth with that in

The difference is very very small. Same viscosity at 0C(Freezing) and the 10/60 is just slightly "thicker" at 100C (Boiling) In my world they are moral equivalents.. I suspect,, the 10/60 has a slightly better additive package to hld the viscosity at higher temps..

10/60 should be better in a stinking hot climate, would be keen to run it here in Central America as the SE's run hot.

I also think this could be one of the positive aspects about the 10W/60.

I just don't want to create engine issues with this oil change.

Anyone else using 10W/60?

I'm using Motorex 10-60 on my 990 since day 1.. I'm very happy and it just needs to add about 100ml/1000km

I wouldn't think going from W50 - W60 would cause that. Now if you went from 5W50 to 10W50, maybe.

10W60 Motorex Crosspower, one of the best oils you can use in the big Adventure, especially if you're a "spirited" rider...

i've been using the 10w60 since the beginning, almost 50.000km on the clock and now also on the drz-e, AGIP, much cheaper than other oils, nontheless perfect in every cliamte and temperatures...

it's also in the manual, no problem there,

enjoy

I am new to this bike, but since receiving it last month, I have been extremely disappointed in the cold start chatter and the rough shifting.

Last week I tore in to her, pulling off the tanks, doing a full oil change, filter change and oil screen cleaning. While doing this work, I found something very interesting. Attached to the frame, behind the left tank was an OEM sticker that stated some maintenance specs. For oil it stated: 15w40, 3 liters. No reference to a 50wt or a 60wt oil.

My choice for the sump when refilling....... I went with a very high quality synthetic of the 10w40 wt.

The next morning I started the bike in 34 degree weather and absolutely no chatter. The shifting is very smooth now. I am sold and this is the only oil my 950 will get. This stuff meets the strict JASO ratings and meets the Ducati requirement for their sport bikes.

Monarch Super Syn

Not to piss anyone off, but I would never pour a 60wt in my bike.
