Cycleworks were telling me they can't sell the baja they have as its been recalled and the part will take a few weeks. Something in the engine.

Have you had yours recalled yet?

I'm in Amsterdam right now. Just flew in from Albania via Rome. Won't know until tomorrow. I didn't notice anything funky with the engine while riding it though. Only 400kms and nothing really pushing the engine. I'll speak to Jay when I stop in tomorrow to pick up some stuff I ordered for the other bikes.

*Edit - I don't see a recall on KTM Safety... You sure you got the facts?

Do they physically have the bike? It could be a stalling tactic while they wait for the bike to show up.

I just put 1200 miles on my Baja over the last three days. Phoenix to LA and back with some offroad riding in Gorman California. It did great. Cruised at 80-90mph with no problem. I love the T63 front. Did really good offroad and didn't shake the bike at highway speeds. I ran pressure at 30psi front and rear offroad.

yep they have it.. i saw it in the workshop just after it came out of the crate..

they said it needs a part for the recall in the engine and it would take a week or two to get the part as KTM canada were out of stock...

he is calling me back once it's assembled to go in and check it out, but he said 31st at earliest he thinks before it could leave them..

but to be honest it's looking pretty hopeful ill get a 2012 leftover from the USA and bring it up. ive spoken to transport canada and have figured out the importing.

If it's a recall then I'm John Wayne. It would be on this board. Jon, run your VIN and see if there's anything. That will put the argument to rest.

LMAO! I could believe that... There's a reason most of us call them "stealers", haha!

Just got off the phone with my local dealer. No recalls in the system.

I would call that dealer on their bullshit and spend your money elsewhere.

Giggidy!!! That's hella good news Jon! (P.S. - I secretly hate your 1200 miles due to jealousy...) 24 hours and I'll be reunited with my queen... and I'll be spooning tires on and going for a ride! My jacket is in and my buddy that bought my F650 has my rally suit so it's perfect timing. I'll take pics of all the before stuff and also after pics of parts taken off, bagged and stored for later.

Does anyone want how-to's done or do we have enough of those for the 9X0's on here? I will take pics for every thing I do anyway, but I'm not gonna do write time consuming write ups unless people want them,

Look at where the strap holding the tank bag is positioned. The header melted through mine on the right side.

About the GPS though, my 550 isn't broken, so why fix it? Works fine for me and it's $$$ I can spend elsewhere like the nuclear power plants KTM calls catalytic converter exhaust pipes. Imho, the money you spent on a GPS could save you 12kg's and a whole pile of heat, ;)

Cheers!
Zumo 550 caved on me, therefore I went with a Montana. Would not have replaced it had it continued to work. In other words, I agree although I think the Montana can be had for about $450, whereas an exhaust is much pricier.

My new 990 Baja

I just purchased a new KTM 990 Baja myself. First adventure bike and first KTM. Anywho....I'm already addicted! So far I put on the CPR air intake, removed all smog stuff, and re-mapped ecu. I have the Scott's stabilizer in the garage ready to put on, and awaiting for my order of other parts to come in. Black dog skid plate and side stand relocate, KTM kickstand foot, high front white fender, frame guards, rear master cylinder guard, Scott's rear shark fin, and fastway adventure pegs. Right now the bike is at Precision Concepts getting suspension. Trying to go beyond the 265mm travel. Maybe close to 280-300?!. Would be nice, Bob Bell will be calling me soon with options. Looking into exhaust and have lots of options.... But dunno what to buy. Anyone bought that 2 into 1 HTR?! After that I'm going to give my debit card a rest.. I'll ride the crap out of it and decide what next, .....most likely luggage. Other than changing the oil, is the anything else I should know about the 600 mile break in service?!
First post on here btw... Looking forward to many more.

Congrats on the bike! It being your first adventure bike don't go overboard on stuff though... You may end up with a lot done to the bike that is unnecessary, lol! Ride it, enjoy it and figure out the extras as you go, :) I'm only going with what I've chosen because I know how I ride my adv bikes and I know my packing routine, what hard parts I break, etc. Enjoy the journey and welcome to something more than just pavement!!!
