Aiguille de Midi

Michael: The cable car ride up from Chamonix can be worth it even when the weather in the valley is cloudy. It takes you so high that you are above the clouds, and can see as far as the Matterhorn. Even without a view, the ride itself is a rush. On the second leg of the trip (you change cars half way up) the car is rising almost vertically against the cliff face.

Thanks - ANOTHER thing to do before I die

That list is getting to be so long that I may never die.

My personal best altitude while touching the ground so far is 4,340 meters (+/-) on the bike at Mt. Evans in Colorado. The air was a bit thin.

And as a bonus, you are sure to meet Japanese people.
Most Japanese tourists visit 2 places in France : the Eiffel tower and Chamonix cable car.

Hmmm...

My Andermatt weekend warm up is under threat from the shitty weather

As far as I can see, Susten, Grimsel, Furka, Nufenen still closed. Anyone with local knowledge know if there are plans for any of them to open this week?
