Caring for new Gore tex boots?

Just got a pair of Bates leather/Cordura (?) Gore Tex lined boots. My idea was to apply some Obenauf's LP after they are broken in. How does this stuff compare with Sno seal, and can it be applied over the fabric panels as well as the leather?

I've been a Sno-seal user since the '60s but I don't use it on Gore-Tex boots.

With Gore-tex boots I'm looking mainly to protect the leather, not waterproof it. I have used leather dressings from Meltonian and Lexol to preserve the leather.

Gore-Tex only lets water vapor out when the vapor pressure on the inside is greater than the vapor pressure on the outside. Having a second barrier causes higher vapor pressure on the outside and increases the moisture on the inside.

Cool, thanks. I'm gonna hold off on the Sno Seal and maybe just condition the leather when they start to need it

^ this, or you'll interfere with the boot's ability to keep you comfy
