This is the same setup as I have on my GS. I was one of the first to receive the rack mounts on 4/17. The left rear mount bracket had an inside weld on it that prevented me from attaching the bag toward the aft end of the rack. I spoke with Al about it and he and his team were going to revise that weld to eliminate this problem. As the first to get the racks I understood that I'd be a beta tester and I'm OK with that.

I already had the bags from my 13 Triumph Explorer

As for a top box I use a BMW 50L tail bag on a rear rack. Full, it makes a very comfy backrest for my wife when she travels with me.

Doc, what color are your rails and bags?

Really disappointed to hear about your experience Oz. I ordered my first set of bags from them a few years ago and I dealt with Al and he took good care of me. I love their bags enough to put up with a little grief, and now I'm ready to get a new set for my GSW.

I've had a few email exchanges with some girl there and every response has been a bit of a head-scratcher. Not that literate. And she told me 4 months ago that I would receive an email when the new bags were ready for ordering, but of course that didn't happen. But their bags are very very bullet-proof compared to the plastic Vario crap, and compared to TT and some of the others I've seen in person. I ride hard off-road so I'm willing to put up with a bit of incompetence at the front desk to get solid bags for my gear.
I thought id deal with the grief too, but I guess my tolerance was much shorter this round.

I have seen the Globescouts and like them, just want the cutout and I don't think they have that yet.

Cycling... Thanks for the link to the pics of the Jesses. Love the look! We will see where things are at when I get my bike.

This is what I went for in the end

Much lighter than a top box, rock solid, and probably more comfortable for a pillion (will get the final verdict from the wife on our next day trip). Oh, and a quarter of the price of a top box!

I was originally going with the black rack mounts but after considering how much silver there is below the seat line, went with the silver. I'm glad I did.

My bags are charcoal in color. Half way between light silver and black.

Thanks. That's the exact setup I'm planning to go with. Glad we don't live close and run into each other often....

The back rest is very solid. She won't have an issue with it. The hard rest on the vario top box used to give my wife backache, this seems much better.

This is how I roll usually.

I prefer the hard cases since I can lock them.

I should be getting my GSW in the next couple of weeks. Like yours mine will be white. I was originally thinking Zega Pro 31/38 in Anodized silver. Now seeing your setup I think the black looks perfect with your bike colors. Tends to visually blend into the bike better, stunning. Can you post a photo from the back?

Thanks, you helped me spend a bit more money

Some additions

Some additions to my luggage setup. Added Bags Connection (SW Motech) City Evo tankbag, Touratech side bags under the rack and a large GIV XS310 bag on the rack. Not sure if I like the "flying bag" look of the tankbag...

Holan Asymmetrical 45L Gray

Very happy with the fit, finish and look of my Holan cases (ordered from ADVMotorrad - great service).

Just waiting on the mounting plate for my top case.
