Great location

Sometimes I see the posts from the guys out west and wish I were there. But then I look at what we have around us and I realize we have it good too.

Thanks for the pictures. That's a great area.

I feel the same way. Living in Cincinnati, I have been out west a lot on the motorcycle, and this year, I am determined to spend more time riding the Appalachians. It takes me two hard days to get to Colorado, slabbing it. I can be in West "by god" Virginia in a few hours, or Kentucky in 30 minutes. The Ohio River Valley has some really nice roads and decent views.

Thumb

I've been on Tumbling Creek and that concrete bridge the last two weekends. There are some nice hammock camping sites in the woods there and quite a few black bears. The water over that bridge was 6-8" the last two Saturdays. It looks like you caught the dry spell. I actually met several advrider adventurers on KTMs and Husqvarnas close to that spot yesterday, 4-20-13.

North Georgia gems

+1 on the re-focus on your local scene. I'm prepping for a ride of all river ferries of KY in 3 days this summer. There are many great spots in N. Georgia. Passed thru North Georgia along Hwy 64 last year while coming back from Savannah to Louisville - some great riding there! A little tourist-y but great side roads/scenery/people. I recommend.
