Cool weather

Going to be looking for my jacket liner before riding this morning.

I think we set a record low or close to it.

It's man made global cooling. Wait until the climate councils revert back to the imminent ice age if we don't all pay carbon taxes. I think it was in the high 50s down here in Bradley County.

I don't believe this cool snap will make the glaciers or ice sheets grow any or stop shrinking at their present rate, either..

Don't think this is a flame or anything.. but if you look in the geologic record, we are kinda in the "middle" right now, there have been climate extremes 10,000s of times over and over in the history of the world (and yes I am a geologist and did work in a lab as an undergraduate where we used the severe climate swings to define strata for oil exploration). We have MANY glacial valleys around the world right now that have never had glaciers in them during "recorded" history. So we if you were around 10,000s of years ago, you'd have thought there was extreme global warming already. Our most recent trend is coming out of an ice age, but there has always been arguments whether we are going back cooler or hotter, and a decade's or centuries worth of "trend" is nothing compared to the wild swings that have happened over 20-25,000 year glacial/inter-glacial periods in the most recent earth history.

Here's Nasa's take on it:

I also don't know and don't wish to debate such a hot topic, especially here. We ride!

Interesting stuff, there is lots of evidence, but does the evidence actually mean something "bad?" And even 650,000 yrs of evidence is a mere 0.01% of earth history. So yeah, there is a general warming, and maybe man has pushed it along, but is it dire? Can the earth absorb that difference in atmosphere? Probably can, the makeup of the atmosphere changes with "planetary" time. Nobody really knows what may or may not happen, but it sure makes great political hay for those that want to "profit" from it.

What a great day out. I had the fantastically fun task of riding to Lenoir City, TWICE to get some lock work done at the closest lock shop. Normally in July whoda thunk of not having air conditioning? I'm gonna go out in the garage and change a couple tire this afternoon, prolly not even break a sweat! I hate all this global warming.

Those are great questions and should be addressed, not ignored for the sake of political bias.

That's not air temperature. the annual average atmospheric temperature has been going up globally for decades, as you well know. The earth's surface will register this in time. My grand kids will be dealing with the consequences if it comes about and by then, well.....

I will not be able to make the Tellico Grains get together. My wife works all weekend, so I'll probably take the 5 year old to see the family. We stopped by Tellico Grains last weekend around 2PM on Saturday. The weather was nice, and the place was crowded. The sandwiches were almost instant, but the pizzas took about 15 minutes. We ended up eating in our car.
