The only thing I don't like about your ride is I'm not going. I'm in the process of resurrecting my 78 trail 90, now with renewed effort. I'll be following every step along the way right here on advrider.

I'm checking this thread every day! Usually right after I come in from working on my low-budget '66, '69, '71, '76 (plus some '82 XR-100 parts) Franken-Trail 90.

Hopefully I'll get to ride that bike on at least part of the TAT this summer.

Drilling the motormount holes out a bit bigger. These engines are designed for CT70's. They have a bit smaller motormount bolts.

Based on that pic, I'd throw a few extra frames in the van...

Anymore than one tube in a frame is overkill! :)
Loving this thread.

Honda made 65 million Cub series bikes over the course of a half century. Most of them have been abused for their entire lives. How many destroyed Cub series frames have you ever seen?

this ^

Shared one with 3 neighbors/roommates for a couple years that got over-loaded, dropped, jumped and rained-on and never failed. It hauled 3 ppl and multiple cases of beer weekly and a complete porcelain toilet once without a wimper. Those are frame-tests those frames have passed with aplomb.

3x6x1/4 inch adapter plate made to mate the pegs/skidplate to the new engine mounts. This isn't a complete bolt in process. Many differences between new engine and old engine.

Had to cut a lot of the frame out and weld in new motor mounts.
