Dave wakes up all bright eyed and bushy tailed...

...our concerns of the black mold overcoming us in the night are unfounded.

A more likely demise would be falling up these stairs in the dark trying to get to the baños...

We manage to survive those as well.

Eventually we make our way back to the restaurant for some deysayuno...

...unfortunately, Anthony was nowhere to be found so we had to dine in peace and quiet.

Back at the room, we take in the view out the back...

...before collecting our shite and loading up the bikes...

...

From his perch on the leg of the table, this guy looks on...

...before his untimely demise...

I like that.

Let's roll. We've got some riding to do...

Noting that we've hit a new low in rooms, we motor out of the village...

...immediately thrust into a postcard...

...

...

...

We're just cruising around taking it all in...

...

Another ginormous earthworm...

That's a quarter next to it.

...

Somewhere in there is a hawk...

...ooh, there he is!

...

...more traffic...

...

...

It doesn't get much better than this...

...even the free range? llamas are stunned by the view...

...

...

...

...

Might be a good idea to find some fuel...

...somewhere down in the blur there must be a station...

...

...

...

Ya gotta love a buck forty eight a gallon.

We don't stay in town long...

...

Fresh tahr...

...

...

...back in the hills...

Dave asks directions...

The one on the left sez, "...take a right..."

"...then left..."

"...then straight for a while..."

"...watch out for the pigs..."

"...and the cows..."

Of course the dogs spoke Spanish so it took us a bit to get all of that...

Shortly after pulling into a village...

...Dave pulls over. "This is a way point on the GPS..."

We check it out. It's Mama Hilda's. It's looking pretty nice! They've got showers, wi-fi and cerveza.

Even though it's only about 12:30 we decide to stop here. It's about time for some downtime.

We get checked in, bikes up to the room, pile unloaded, showers and chill...

Cafe con Bailey's, catch up on some email, and Mama Hilda's famous sammiches!

This place is gonna be purrr-fect!

If you want to catch big fish....use big bait

....

Ya....Mama Hilda's was a sight for sore eyes....and tired bodies that didn't get much sleep the night before...It was time for a rest afternoon.

...

...

Mama Hilda in the flesh...

We drank about 5 cups of coffee and wolfed down a couple of grilled cheese sammiches...

And just kinda kicked back...so to speak.

I hope he at least took his boots off.....

It was a nice neighborhood...

A curious guest wondering where the stench is coming from...

Recently coiffed...

Nature mimics nature....

Sorry. The shot in the bunk just isn't the same without the Little Mermaid.

Not sure what it all means but look carefully at what happens in this video...

We may have to come back to this...

We had a nice clean little room, clean sheets.

and a shower that had piping hot water that didn't sport an electrocution shower head.

And we didn't mess the room up too much with our shite.

And an interesting view from our backyard.

For some reason this picture gives me the creeps...

Love the highland panarama shots...

Any idea of the altitude crossing the Andes into Sigchos and over to Mama Hilda's?

All the Best,

Mama Hilda's is an unexpected oasis. Although we spent most of our time resting, we took a few pics around the yard.

Well cared for grounds and rooms. Kinda like what you might find in the Adirondacks...

When it's dinnah time we all come arunning. Family style seating and there's one thing on the menu...dinner.

We sat at a table with four or five other people and passed around the plates as they came out. We met these nice folks from the states...can't remember where but they were traveling around hiking at different spots. They had hired a car and driver to get them around....very common way for tourists to travel there.

The house dog knows if he hangs around this spot long enough, something good is gonna come his way...

Mama Hilda and her helper begged us to come along but we just didn't have the room...

This turned out to be an A+ stop.

This, my friend, is an understatement.

It was exactly what the doctor ordered to 'recharge'.

Mama Hilda's is simply good timing.

It is about that time in the trip when a bit of downtime doesn't hurt plus, it follows a night of not so good sleep.

Rested, after a good night's sleep, I get up and wander the grounds...

...and look for coffee...

The sun is just starting to come up. Don Gato greets me...

Eventually people begin to stir and again we all meet for breakfast...and finally coffee.

Dave and the traveling hiker's driver...

...our breakfast companions, the hikers, Nancy and Greg...

After breakfast, completely out of her element...

A quick check of the interweb/email before we leave...

Packed and ready to roll...

...we say our goodbyes to Mama Hilda and her lovely assistant...

...promising to send our friends their way.

Go there.

You won't be sorry.

Mission complete.

We fire up the trusted steeds and head out...

Just returned from Ecuador. Rented a suzuki and honda 200cc bikes.
Great roads, food and views.

Engine on the Honda gave out on our last day. Freedom did a great job sending a truck to pick us up.
I need to figure out how to post pictures.

The morning can't be beat for riding...

We climb right up through a 'saw mill' operation...

...

...

...

...before we stop and take it all in...
