GPS software

I was able to get a Garmin GPSmap 76CSx and am looking for advice on how to get maps onto this. I have tried several of the threads in this area, but nothing seems to work. I am find spending money on a gps sw package, but cannot seem to find one that is straightforward.
Thanks,
Devin

You can buy mapping software including maps from Garmin. City Navigator and Topos are popular here. I would recommend getting the DVD.

These DVD's used to come with the Mapsource software. Garmin has now switched to BaseCamp. Don't know if that is on the DVD or you just download it.

Expect a bit of a learning curve getting to know all this.

Another free option that a few people use is OSM maps and software. I don't know the source for that, but I imagine you could search for it either here or Google.
