Hey guys,

All PM's have been caught up and replied to. Sorry for our absence, G has been out with his accident still (and will be out for quite a while to come) and I too had some personal issues that prevented me from logging on here.

Should be good going forward. Thanks for everyone's patience!

J

Have a question. Looking at the Montana bundle. If I wired the rugged cradle into the bike does the cradle have to stay on the bike permanently or does the wire have a disconnect? Looks like the ram mount is useless if the wire doesn't disconnect.

The cable can be disconnected from the cradle using a small T6 torx driver.

That's not very convenient of Garmin, thanks for the reply.

It's really easy to wire in an SAE connector, that's what I did. Just like plugging and unplugging a battery tender. It's not the ideal connector, but it is rugged, fairly water resistant, available, and cheap. I actually chopped several feet out of the harness that comes with the rugged mount, eliminated the headphone jack, but left those wires protected, and just wired for power.

Is there a voltage reducer in the wiring harness or does it take 12 volts. I see in the pic it has something in line, might just be a filter

The only thing in there is a headphone jack. Otherwise it's 12V to the pins.

Edit: And a fuse holder.

It should be 5v to the pins, with a fuse in-line.

Sent a PM regarding the Zumo 590. I'd like to pick one up sometime this summer to replace my 550.

I don't have any incoming PM's from you, can you try again?
