Wicked We are going to Australia at the end of july, places to visit..!?

One week in Sydney for a conference, one week to play around, we think we want to go to the "Corral reef" up north.

In short we want nature, warm, water and cool not stuffy hotels..

Thanks in advance for all the input..

Oh we have a 19month old baby so a single place will be better than a road trip..

Perhaps give Ayers Rock (Uluru) a miss.

Good Choice

The winter climate in Queensland is very pleasant, the Cairns, Atherton region would be nice for a week. Some of the North Queensland blokes will have more info from their local knowledge. Enjoy your stay!

Yep fly straight to Cairns from Sydney and hire a car. LOTS of really nice day trips from there. Cairns is also an international airport so depending on your ticketing etc you may be able to leave Aus from there rather than returning to Sydney 1st.

Hi Ricardo
Are you looking for scuba diving, snorkeling on the great barrier reef (GBR) experience?

What sort of budget are you looking at donating to our economy?

The bmw hp2 choice.... http://www.sailawayportdouglas.com/S...s_Charters.htm

Or the dr 650 special?
http://www.oceansafari.com.au/

Or perhaps sit back chilling out with the sprog whilst you take it in turns doing the nature thing? ( don't even think about green island, it gets several thousand asian tourists ever day)

A smart man might base himself somewhere around cairns and accidentally book a motorbike trip....
http://www.capeyorkmotorcycles.com.au/dirt-tours.html

Or book his partner into riding horses on the beach. ( don't laugh until you've watched , sorry, tried , bare back riding in the surf)

Nb http://www.coralsands.com.au/ is right next door to lunico, and if you feel a bit unwelcome with your 19 month old, they do away

Cairns would be my choice. Lots to see and do, with great weather during winter. Cairns City Terraces in McLeod St is a great accommodation option, close to all facilities. Sunday mornings head to Pt Douglas and have a long brekky on the marina......at La Marina (hope it is still there). Try and get a babysitter and spend a night at Johno's Blues Bar... Enjoy...

last time I was in cairns 3 years ago Johnnos was still there and no smoke and Johnno had been kicked out on his ass
Now broke and homeless, and that from his Niece
too many drugs, booze and no saving his bucks

It was a top place back 15 years ago

How things change! I also see that Tawny's on the Wharf, the famous seafood restaurant has gone......
