Don't look back!

You are doing what most of us wish we had done. Much respect for you.
Keep looking forward- don't look back.

Yesterday I was 25.
Today i'm 55.
30 years gone in the blink of an eye!

Awesome dude! I can totally understand your position, enjoy every single day you can do this. I know you are planning on only making it as far north as Tennessee before you head her west but you've got help in Kentucky if you need it! Take lots of pics and post when you can!

The Trace is about history, wildlife and solitude. There's nothing else quite like it. You won't enjoy it if you're focused on the motorcycle. I understand the part North of Tupelo and into Tennessee is the most interesting.

congrats.. If it helps the thing that made my XR650R great for highway instead of a painful dirtbike, more than anything else was a decent seat. Seat Concepts came to the rescue for $150. Hope it helps. I could hammer out 300 miles easily on my old XR..

Also that subframe hopefully it holds up. Best solution I've see is this from globetrottin.com he ships these things all over the world... More $$ i know, just mentioning it...

I know the exact feeling of liberation from giving up one's "life" you're talking about. after 7 months on the road, 14,000+ miles and still going even after going broke in california. i can say you're in for a hell of a ride! Word of advice don't plan anything learn to follow the gut. "If the gut says so the gut knows so" that's my personal moto. If you want any tips/advice shoot me a pm, specially about free camping, cheap food and so forth. couchsurfer and tent space thread are your friends! hotels and fancy meals your worse enemy!!!!

Alive and well gentleman! (and the occasional lady that hasn't been scared off by you crazies)

Currently in Vicksburg Mississippi.

The goal is to find free wifi tomorrow to make a real update, with pictures and details. Until then...this is home tonight.

I may very well find out if an MSR PocketRocket can spitroast an entire Canadian Goose if these aholes don't shutup.

Chris, you made my evening and I m definitely going to follow your journey.
I respect your decision! I've been a mechanic back in early 2000s and changed a career for similar reasons.

I've since made many lonely trips including a cross country on a bicycle. Those times are wonderful for the soul and self discovery. I am sure you will have a time of your life. Have fun but I hope you agree that safety is first.
I'll be riding a scooter from TN to Los Angeles from end of May to Mid June. Who knows, maybe we will be in the same vicinity at that time. Thanks for sharing man! Keep it up. You've got a family here thinking of you and supporting you all the way.
