12 990R - adjusting shifter to preference - how?

I want to move the shifter down so I don't have to lift up so high to gear down. I removed the bolt out of it and see it's on teeth but not easily coming off. Anyone done this? Is it just a matter of persistence or is there an easy way other than prying it off..aggressively?

Thanks

It just comes off that shaft, it is tapered.
