From the Honda web site -

Next race
The next race for the TEAM HRC will be the Merzouga Rally. Starts next October 21th from Erfoud and finishes October 26th. There are two of our riders entered: Hélder Rodrigues and Sam Sunderland.

So it looks like Goncalves is not running and may be savouring his double victory

I like the logic behind your reasoning Jenny.

IMHO a good opportunity to give (at least) one of the mules a run with the same engine and see what it stands up to...

If it goes "poof" no big harm done... it's not a title race - just toss a new motor in for the next leg and keep on gathering data/seat time.

I'm sporting my Lyndon Poskitt Racing shirt today!

Sid, myself, and RenoMoto were planning on this event. But work seems to have gotten in the way. Sid and myself have registered for the Tuareg again instead.

Go Pyndon!

Little matters like work (and my wife's birthday !) managed to conspire together to prevent me from getting down to Morocco to give Pyn a bit of support

Can anyone confirm if the entry list race numbers are correct?

The riders I'm interested in (other than the bun-fight at the sharp end, actually, not so much... although 'Go Helder') - including ADV inmates, and rally friends are:

#33 Patsy Quick - GBR - Desert Rose Racing

#45 Paul Carlyle - GBR - Desert Rose Racing

#52 Lyndon Poskitt - GBR - Lyndon Poskitt Racing

#53 Kurt Burroughs - GBR - Lyndon Poskitt Racing

#57 Ollie Lloyd - GBR - OWL Racing/Speedbrain

#71 Mike Sheperd - NZ - Desert Rose Racing

Looking forward to it all kicking off soon - Patsy already has an injury - a tyre lever sprung up and hit her in the eye yesterday!

They're off!

Helder's up to 3rd already, and it looks like they are heading south into the big dune field at Erg Chebbi...

Mind that (as far as I know) today is not a competitive race, and later in the afternoon there should be a prologue to give the starting order for tomorrow, the first real race stage

Not a competitive day? Never heard of that before...so today is a stage that isnt timed? seems odd....

From the Merzouga web site -

"It was a day of administrative and technical checks at the headquarter of Merzouga Rally, where the organizers welcomed the more than 100 riders devided into bike, quad and SSV categories.
Tomorrow the day will start with a 120 km warm up to find or regain confidence with the African terrains, regulate the trip and for those who experience the rally for the first time, to understand how the GPS works.

It will be a good mix in terms of navigation and terrains of what the competitors will face in the Merzouga Rally 2013. At the end of the warm up, a 4 km Prologue will decide the starting order of Stage 2."

There's always a first Deadly - there are several quirks - a marathon stage day 4/5 and a dune motocross on the last day - I think I know where my money may be on that one!!

Saturday 26 October 2013-Fifth stage
Erfoud-Grand Prix des dunes Merzouga-Erfoud: liaison 57km-SS72-liason 57km
08h00 Start of the liaison bike and SSV competitors
10h00 Start "Le Mans" Bike Category for the “Grand Prix des Dunes”
10h15 Start SSV category for the “Grand Prix des Dunes”

At the end of the warm up, a 4km prologue, will start in reverse order compared to the race number will decide the starting order of the second stage.
