Anyone know the conditions at and or around Rollins Pass? Is the snow such that you can go any distance? I was up on the Peak to Peak yesterday and it seemed pretty dry. I did not get off the pavement though.

The tunnel is still collapsed, as far as I know. A poor condition.

The tunnel is fine, its the concrete barriers that suck. Not sure about the snow conditions though.

Rollins

I may run up there in a few days after buttoning up my XR and installing a fuel tank brace coming shortly. I'll let you know what I find. My guess is there is still a bunch of snow. I live a few miles off P2P and it is in no way representative of Rollins pass due to another 2000-3000' in elevation. Sure is dry on P2P though.

Oi Dragonslayer,

Yes. Really.

The guy who was the foremost expert on Rollins Pass got banned. I nominate you to take over. Let us know how it's doing by 0900.

kthanks,

I would like to explore that area this summer on my KTM 450. Can you ride from Rollinsville to Winter Park?

No, the tunnel is blocked and I am not sure I would even take anything over 250lb including the person across the trestles due to weathering.

Technically Yes . Legally No. I've ridden over it numerous
times back in the 70's & 80's (on a xr500)back when things were a lot less politically clusterphucked. Sure was a sweet ride in the day and took no time at all to get from Nederland to WP.

Anyone want to head up there this afternoon and check it out? I rode about a mile up the pass road a while back, encountered impassible snow on the road as soon as it goes around the hill and into the trees. Road was clear to Moffat Tunnel and the first mile or so up from there.

The tunnel is not collapsed. That is a lie perpetuated by the Boulder Ranger district. The same thing goes for the "destroyed road". it's just fine.

About 3 weeks ago Mammouth gulch was snowed in, tried Apex valley road and Cemetary road from central city as well. Apex valley was snowed in after the first switchback. Didn't get far down Cemetary. Should be melting out fast.

It's been in the 60's and 70's up here everyday for the past 2 weeks and the melt has been dramatic, but hoping for the Moffet Road before July is deluding yourself.

Having said that I will likely investigate this week.

I am going to plan to be in Rollinsville at 1pm today, I will wait right there by the turn off from P2P for 15 min to see if anyone wants to join then head towards Moffat. Just show up, call or text if you are interested in scoping it out, after that I was just going to wander around the area looking for any other interesting distractions. 3o3-ate for to-95for3

Chris, every other post you make is a swipe at Boulder. You should be sentenced to six months living in Boulder, then you'd get it!

But Parker, hey, that pretty cool place to live too...
