I need a new DR 650 frame

After finding this on my last trip I'm looking for another DR 650 frame.

Anyone out there got one. ?
I know I can get this one welded, but I wouldn't mind starting off with a better one.
Cheers,Phil

That's horsepower that does that mate

I've got a burnt 06 frame that's on the stat writeoff register though if it's any good to you.

this is whats made it crack.

See the gap between the swingarm and frame ? when you tighten up the swingarm bolt it pulls the side of the frame in and has stressed it until it stared cracking. That gap should be shimmed so there is no stress. The othere side of the frame is much thicker so the left side cops it ! With it cracked I can see the crack open up as I tighten it up

I have found the one in the flea market. Will be looking into Freight cost.
Should jump on one of those cheap flights for a weekend. To big for carry on luggage !!

Welding

One hour welding time and added plate on the outside. This will be stronger than stock. No worries.

When you weld all day on things that really need to be welded perfectly, like pressure pipe, then small mild steel jobs with low stress become an easy fix.

It's straight but would need a bead blast and a repaint.

I'd be inclined to agree with the others' thoughts and repair yours though.

I've wondered whether an overtight drive chain could contribute to this btw. Something has to give if it's too tight.
KTM's and Yamahas normally crack the back hub.

Just saying.

Yes i see the problem ..i was just taking the piss ....they are a good thing no doubt about it

i would follow the others leads and plate the frame .....maybe a fix is needed b4 it breaks for those who own the DR

hope it turns out well for you and you get her back on the rd in short time

If you get a new frame , or that one fixed, if it was me I would add 2 more they are very thin so that may over come winding the frame in a bit that's my thoughts .
