And if there was ever a 'off the deep end DR' this is it from Seattle:
2009 Suzuki DR650 Very Heavily Modified, RTW Adventure Ready - $5800 (Lake Stevens, 98258) Date: 2012-08-15, 11:58PM PDT Reply to: 4psgk-3208861457@sale.craigslist.org 2009 DR650 !!!! Fund Big Al's trip to AUS! Located in 98258 Up for sale is the Pride and Joy of my Big Al's Bike Barn. My 2009 Suzuki DR650 with 17,798 miles. $5,800 (see why below!) I bought this motorcycle in January of 2012, from the 2nd owner (ADVBilly), upon return from my prior motorcycle trip from Seattle to Argentina (4/2011 - 11/2011). I rode it home from Alabama to Seattle, catching a ride from San Diego to Northern Oregon. You see, I needed this DR650! I was going to pimp it out, and ride the hell out of it! Ride it to Alaska! Ride it around the USA! Ride the TAT on it! Ride the WABDR! Ride EVERYWHERE! Well I did pimp it out! Hell, I might even send it to Africa and ride it to Europe. Mongolia! Asia!?!?!? Then! I came to realize that I NEED as much money as I can possibly acquire in preparation for the year of 2013 that my girlfriend and I plan to spend in AUSTRALIA! YES! We applied for our Working Holiday Visas last week and were granted them the same week. All of my moto's are up for sale, and this is the saddest sale of them all! It sucks. Hell I just sold my Moto-Mule trailer I pulled behind my DR. When I commit, it's go big or go home. No use in half-assing this effort. No way in hell. It's all got to go. I bought this bike extremely farkled from Billy in Alabama who sold it to buy a F650GS, (later selling it to buy an F800GS). It was nearly perfect minus a few things I couldn't live without. Prepare yourselves for the following list of accessories which came with the bike when I bought it, and which were added by me after I had it in my possession. Highlights include: Safari Tank, Renazco Seat, 21"/18" Wheels with Billet Rad Hubs,Excell Rims, Buchanan Spokes and TUBLISS set up, TM40 Carb, Cogent Shock, Race Tech Intimidators, Wolfman 2nd Gen Racks with Pelican bags, Oversized Rotor, GSXR600 Exhaust / Keintech Midpipe. Currently it sits as follows. . ... Year: 2009 Miles: 17,796 Range and Comfort: Safari Tank (Record setting 8.65gl fill up last week) Renazco Seat Pro Taper 7/8 Bars with 1" Bar Risers Aimhi Universal Enduro Fairing (comes with Carbon Fiber Dash Plate not shown in photos) Foot Peg Lowering Brackets (1" Down, 1" Back") Mirrors, Lighting, Dash etc: Highway Dirtbike (HDB) handguards with blinkers and mirrors. HDB LED rear blinkers HDB Dash protector Vaportech Dash DR250 tail light mod LED License plate light Shoria Lithium-Ion Battery ADVmonster Model 30 and Model 44 Auxiliary LED Lights Fuel/Suspension/Air: Front Wheel is Rad Billet Hub laced to 21" Excel Rim with Buchanan Heavy Duty Spokes Rear Wheel is Rad Billet Hub laced to 18" Excel Rim with Buchanan Heavy Duty Spokes Nutech Tubliss inserts (AWESOME) HM40 Pumper Carb (Same as TM 40 pumper) GSXR600 Exhaust Can Keintech Midpipe Rear Cogent Shock Ricor Front Fork Intimidators Super Brace Fork Brace K&N Filter and wrap 2nd breather filter Billet tank vent Stock gas tank/exhaust/headlight shroud Brakes/ Drive etc: 320mm EBC Oversize Front Brake Rotor with Caliper Relocation Bracket Ball Bearing Chain Guide Lower Steel Chain Guide Fork Seal Skins License Plate Bracket Front Fender Brace Speedometer Eliminator Braided front brake line Folding Shift Lever DID Chain with 3k miles on it Extra 14&16 tooth sprocket (currently with 15 tooth), Luggage and Accessories: Wolfman 2nd Generation Side Racks Rackit Billet Cargo Rack 3 Pelican Storm IM2400 boxes (2 panniers, one top case) Armor Case Guards Aluminum Bashplate Keintech Tool Tube Brand new Steering head bearings Stock Headlight Shroud This bike is about as well set up as it could possibly be. MINUS the RM USD Fork modification. So, as a present to the buyer, a set of 1995 RM250 front forks with triple tree and axle will be included, with new fork seals and fork oil. These are plug and play forks when an RM250 front wheel/rotor is used. I didn't install them because I didn't want to give up my oversized front rotor, and heavy duty rim/hum Now, as I was saying, this bike is missing very little, if anything, to make it more awesome. Sure you could add a rear braided brake line, and a rear galfer wave rotor, and oversized foot pegs, and an accessory plug, swap the exhaust can for a x40F0x titanium can, and get a Keihin FCR39mm Carb if you felt like it. Go For It. I like it the way it is! (You see, I know my shit.... HAHAHA) This bike has no ignition key, as it was removed by the previous owner. It is not included. However, I can secure a new one at cost for the buyer should that person be interested. Currently it is wired to 2 individual switches that must be connected to start the bike. I'll show you how. If you are interested in a price breakdown, I have created an Excel file that I will gladly send you. Total price of accessories is $5042 give or take a couple hundred bucks. Given that a seller never regains the cost of the items installed on a bike, I've given them a 50% valuation when considering the sale price of this bike. The bike is located in Lake Stevens, WA 98258, 30 miles north of Seattle. Pricing starts at $5,800 obo and is slightly negotiable. Shoot me your offers if your not comfortable with this price, and we can dicker about it. I'm not afraid, and you shouldn't be either. I know it is nearing the end of the season, but I also know the value of this bike. It will never let you down, and is capable of taking you around the world starting tomorrow. Please call/text me with any questions at 425-903-2632 . I work 8-5 Tues-Fri, so please leave a message if I don't answer. Thanks for looking, and let me know if you need any specific photos! --Alex

Not mine, but very clean......
2004 Honda XR400 Street Legal Dirt Bike - $2200 (Edgewood, NM) Date: 2012-08-19, 5:16PM MDT This is a very clean XR400 with low miles (when I purchased it 2 years ago from the previous owner it still had the original front tire). It has new tires front and rear, an aluminum header (I still have the original), EVO Big Gun Exhaust, SDG grip seat (I still have the original), aluminum skid plate, headlight, tail and brake light, and it's titled as a motorcycle so it is plated for street use. Also, if you're familiar with XR400's it's had all the Gordon's performance mods done to it. It starts and runs great and I've never had any issues with it. If you want a great dirt bike that you can ride from trailhead to trailhead then this is it. I hate to sell it but I have one too many bikes. Please text me anytime at (505) three three one- zero one two seven and I will return your call as soon as I'm available, or reply to this ad. Absolutely no trades, cash only. honda yamaha suzuki kawasaki ktm husqvarna husaberg beta xr 400 xr400r ![]()

Oh, well, I have my own money pit in the garage. The one there in Seattle is a little bit overkill.

craigslist temptings have thankfully been pretty thin of late, the 430 is up there with the CBR. I might go look at the '91 KDX since it's close. The '94 300 EXC looks even cleaner than my '94 440 EXC, and would be much tamer in the woods. Plated too.

I've got a call in on the CBR. No response as of yet. Books around $2K in excellent condition. New tires, battery and low low miles might make it interesting.

That ad has been on craigslist multiple times with the same asking price - he appears to be fairly firm on that. It's a super minty fresh bike, but you can get newer VFR's for under $3k
