Why?

This thing is driving me a little nuts. The seller got right back to me yesterday with photos (looks super clean).
Trying to go see it tomorrow but have not heard back from the owner.

http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/3435626833.html

Any thoughts?

Go south instead...this one has some nice touches for a few bucks more.

The 17" wheels is a good thing - my best bud had one of these and 18" rubber choices aren't great. The Ohlins shocks are worth a couple dollars too.

For sale is a rare '94 CB1000 "Big One" motorcycle. 25k miles, mostly stock with the exception of these proper upgrades:

- 17" wheel conversions front & back (transforms handling!)
- Ohlins shocks (I still have the stock shocks as well)
- Just mounted a brand new National Cycle bikini smoke-tinted windshield
- New Nissin radial master cylinders (brake and clutch)
- Steel braided front brake lines
- Gold line Super Hawk Nissin front brake calipers
- New EBC HH brake pads
- Just mounted brand new Michelin Pilot Road radial tires

Ah yes, the "Big One". I too lusted for one about 15 years ago. I rode a few but never pulled the trigger. Remember, it is almost a 20 year old bike now. You can sometimes get 919's for the same price 13 years newer. They were a nice bike (especially in red) and not a lot around. Hey, I will ride anything and have fun but my thought is for the money you can find bandit 1250's and 919's and even SV1000's for the same price (or less). Have fun! Bucky

The same engine that was in the CBR1000F, but sadly detuned a bit. Old school Honda four, with cam chain drive between the two middle cylinders.
Rock solid, but not a powerhouse as configured in the CB1000.

I've been looking at ZRX's, first gen FZ1's, and a few 919's....never really gave the CB1000 much of a second look.
One of my oldest friends and riding buddies had one, and it really was a great bike - but they left some performance on the table.
We covered a lot of ground on those bikes ('95 Fireball Orange Speed Triple under me) and the Big One brings back good memories.

Thanks, I did see that one too. I liked 12k miles on the one in Loveland. He also had the headers and pipe ceramic coated, pads all around, new chain, fluids done, new battery, plugs, air filter & 3k on the tires(who knows how old they are). 18" dunlop road-smarts are about as good as it gets for rubber.

I had an '04 ZRX1200R. Fun bike, plenty of grunt with out a bunch of Ivan's added. The FZ1 is also great. A lot more motor that the honda for sure. I was just looking for a big ol' cool retro standard that you don't see every day.

Btw, I do like these two;

It needs a rear tire.

I'm still looking....but that FZ1 is a good one.

Blake, you don't need a liter bike. I know where there is a nice FZ6 for cheap

Dang Chris, I know of a couple people looking for cars right now. I'll pass this info on. I'm a huge fan of that 4.0L six. They run strong forever.

I've got an '04 sport 4.0L 5 speed with a hard top. Bought it for my daughter and made darn sure the thing was ready to go. Tires, suspension......blah, blah, and of course a deck with speakers. 104k miles. Any-who my dad had a knee replacement, a heart-attack and a couple of strokes over three months and now can't drive. No, not because he's dead. My mom wants me to come pick up his car and I really don't need it. I know the jeeps command a stupid price here in Colorado but PM me if somebody needs a jeep.
Funny part is, it's a 2000 MB ML430 SUV with 45,000 miles on it and the Jeep is worth more.

Damn, that is a good deal. I had a 2.5L and it was great but I always wished I had the 4.0.

yes... I love this bike. It's been on there for a long time though (probably because of the price tag). But yes... I drool over it too about once a month.

Serious drool factor for me.

Clean bike and an excellent rider. I've put over 150 miles on it so far...
Alot done to make it reliable and useable. New Throttle cable. Rebuilt Master cyl. front and rear. New Grips. Rebuild Brake Calipers (new rear pads). Rebuild carbs/synch. De-carbon topend and NEW rings (still on standard bore-good indication of how it's been used). Rebuild fuel shut-off/new fuel lines (tank looks new inside). New Air Filter. Scrub electrical connections (charges excellent-everything works). New Battery. New Muffler Joints/packing. New Fork seals/oil.
Tune-up items: New transmission oil, plugs, points, timing, synch oil pump and adjust/lube everything.
Colorado title. Price is $4000.00.
They sell for $3500.00 to $5500.00 routinely so pass on the lowball offers...
Call 3039eightsix577seven if interested
