I've got friends that purchase a sparkly, overpriced rock or other shiny bauble for their significant other EVERY time they purchase a bike. Don't fall into the pro-quid, per quo routine. It's a race to the bottom.

I didn't even know how to ride a motorcycle when I got married. Buying one and learning to ride it was my 15th anniversary present to myself. It has also been suggested I'm planning my escape.

Exactly.

There's a correct order for all this to take place
I started riding at 12, didn't get married until I was 41.

fairly rare bird here... the head wrench at Hall's H-D in Chico (where I bought my FXR-S) had one of these, and it was a helluva good runner.

That's a good looking ride.

The local Davidson shop has an 1994 Road King for less than 8k. Had I seen that before I bought my R I might just be riding a hog.

Got this bike on trade, it runs but needs a timing chain tensioner,
I don't have the time to repair it

1994 Honda XR650L - $2800 (104th/I25)

http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/3503264517.html

I have a 1994 Honda XR 650L in incredible condition.
I inherited this from my girlfriends father who used it to ride around his farm and into town.
Its never been ridden hard and its been taken extremely good care of, always garage kept.
When I picked it up it had been sitting for a while so I cleaned out the carb, lubed the cables,
changed the oil and oil filter, put a new spark plug and air filter in it and it runs perfect.
The chain and sprockets are good, brake pads and brake fluid are good, good tires,
good battery, everything works, it needs nothing. Its hard to find one in this great of shape
.

That about qualifies as a barn find. Super clean looking from the pics.

It's newer than a 1994. Wrong color on seat, decals and headlight shroud. The 1994 used a purplish blue for the accent colors.

True - the seat looks close, but the side panels lack the blue lower half and the front headlight cowl is black instead of blue. Could be a different year... still a good deal for a low hour bike
