1975 Yamaha XS650 - $1500 (Lakewood)

http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/4198696883.html

Marc....you were looking for a winter project?

I have a 1975 Yamaha XS 650 for sale. The bike comes with a clear title.
It is not currently running but the engine turns over with good compression.
This is a nice original bike. I am asking $1500 OBO

Blake

Serious question, have the 650s gotten so collectable that 1500 is a realistic price? Non-runners with a good title 500-750 in my mind.

in the spirit of the thread

Seen a couple of really cool customs made from the above.

Here we go.

Never mind. His idea was good enough for me. It needs a little of this and a little of that but I have started with MUCH worse.

Blake and Jim, you are both bad influences.

Annie, Thanks for pointing this out.

Marc

I think that un-cafe'd or un-shorttracked, and straight non-Special XS650's are getting hard to find. That one may not be running, but I'll bet it doesn't take much to get it there. It's complete, straight, and if the paint is good and tank dent-free....I'd say it's worth $1500.

Kills me that I sold my perfect '77 XS650D in about 1986 for $850

Might not be worth it to many....but being a huge fan of them, I'd buy it if I had the money.

this XV 920 RH is MUCH too nice (original) to chop up into some kind of "custom" I put over 60k miles on mine and found it to be a wonderful motorcycle ! It was slow (60hp), but was very stable, predictable in the handling department. I would buy it if my old arthritic legs would still bend enough to be comfortable on it. NICE bike !

So what do you think the Specials are worth? My buddy has a 650 Special he's thinking about selling. Probably in the same condition as the one above but runs good. He has no idea what to ask, I'm not sure either…

XS Special

The last 650 Special I had I sold for $1200 to a bike dealer, it ran but had some issues - did have a good title.

Your mate should ask at least $1500 - if not $1800 - and wait, someone will buy it.

Thanks, way higher than I would have guessed!

This bike is just like my first bike, with a few exceptions. I hated the seat on mine. If you were closer to the carolinas I would buy it now.
Here is a picture of my first bike.
