Nice. Had a red one of those as my first bike in '74. But it had a front drum brake IIRC, a 1972. Been a long time.

I find it hard to believe it's lasted 24 hours

1984 Yamaha XT600 - XT 600 - $550 (Denver

http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/4263964014.html

1984 Yamaha XT600 - Street Legal - Runs - Has Colorado Title

19,000+ miles

$550

I purchased this XT600 as a non runner for a winter project. I did some tinkering with it & got it running.
Then I bought another project bike. Now I have too many bike projects so I have decided to sell this one.

This XT600 starts up, runs & rides great except the motor's top end needs work. The motor has been inspected.
Bore, piston & rings are pretty worn so the piston is slapping & burning oil.
The rest of the motor is solid including, cam, rockers, valves & crank bearings are all good.
Transmission is solid & shifts fine. Carbs were recently cleaned.
Muffler is OEM complete with Forest Service approved spark arrestor.
Electrical & lights are good. Battery is shot. Front rim is new recently. Rear rim is straight. Tires are decent.
Front suspension has been rebuilt, rear is good. Seat, body panels & tank are decent.

I've owned both and I preferred the Honda, it seemed to be built better and was easier to ride than the Kawasaki.
It seemed to have a better bottom end, and easier to ride in the slower stuff.
Also the Honda could be overbored easy, the KX has a plated cylinder and cost more when top ends crapped out.
The KX500 was more of a on or off bike, all or nothing, and seemed faster.
Both shaked pretty bad and tossed nuts and bolts like a Harley on a poker run. The Honda had better suspension IMO but that was back in the early to mid 90's, and my memory isn't what it used to be.
Took lot of effort to hang on and go fast, I much prefer modern 450's, maybe not as fast but I can ride them longer with less fatigue.
Go get one, I think everybody should own a 70 hp 2 stroke at least once in their life.
