525 XC-? in the Duke city.

This kid really wants to sell his race bike. The claim is that it has like 40 hours on it.
I was thinking about it. But I can't get the Bergs out of my mind. So my next dirt bike will be a Berg.

Here is the link.

He priced it to me at $4500.00

That S looks like a great bike.

I have never owned an airhead. Someday I would like to.

That looks like a great project with a good foundation - and if the XR was ready for prime-time, I'd offer up the KLR to fulfull his dualsport needs.

I'm not convinced. It's a 1978 - not an original "S" by the look slof it (and the seller doesn't claim it to be).

I bet it's an R100 or R100T (although not sure the T deisignation was in use that year). I think that fairing is an aftermarket, not the true BMW fairing. It makes a difference, because some of the cheap fairing attach to the bars and cause high speed shakes (if I rememebr corectly - been a while since i had airheads).

So really, you have a '78 R100 that hasn't run in a few years... The triple clamp is a nice mod though.

I don't think it is really an "S" either, but for that price it might be a fun little toy to fix up and not have to stay original. I think I will shoot him an E-mail and see if he is into trading.

Very good deal:

http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/531419052.html

I've had a '99 ATK since new. The seller is exagerating the new price. In 1999 they sold for $5k.

Still, this bike is like new and the price is very good. Original tires! Plus, the '98 had the USD WP forks ('99 switched to conventional Paiolis). If I had room in my garage, I'd pick it up to replace my tired '99. These bikes are incredibly durable and will withstand years of hard use.
