Montana with 24K Topo - Settings?

For those of you who like to have 24k topo maps in view while riding along, how do you typically have your map settings configured? At first, I was using "most" detail and had shading "on" but when I did that, I could barely see the roads. I backed off to "more" detail and turned off the shading and it was 10x easier to see.

But, I am still very much a newbie with the Montana, so what are your preferences for 24k topo display?
