Dam it's a nice bit of kit , it would make changing the preload real easy on the 690, oh well it was worth asking

So it looks like we're ready to ship this thread off to vendors now that orders are getting placed.

A question from a slow learner ... regarding the suspension travel.

Firstly, I don't question that you went with the max travel that was feasible.

What I want to understand (and am perhaps a bit slow) is why 277mm was the limit. (And what might potentially be the problem with my 310mm)

If I remember correctly, the issue was with the forks.

As I understand things, the length of the outer (upper) tubes is the ultimate limiter of suspension length when fully compressed. So, to that end, if the stock SE outers are used, is it correct that there should be no issue regarding wheel clearance with the triple-clamp, or radiator (or the engine case hitting the ground) at full compression?

From what you were saying (if I understood it) the other problem with simply stretching the original SE fork hardware to 310mm was the reduced overlap. Which makes sense. However, would it not be possible to remedy that using longer inner (lower) tubes? Are the EXC fork lower tubes longer than an SE fork lower tube? Would longer lower tubes not fit?

Thanks for all the work.
Looking forward to adding this suspension to the list of things I can't afford right now

Well, it's taken long enough, but I finally have pricing for the Super Enduro products, and they are now up on our website and available to order...

I've created two options for the SER -

1) A stock length Öhlins TTx44 rear shock as a direct replacement for the factory WP unit. It features 255mm of wheel travel and ships complete with spring, Penski style HD adjuster, new bushings and even a Pivotworks spring thrust bearing. Simple to bolt-on. Price: $2495

2) A complete Öhlins 277mm kit that includes one of our custom Öhlins TTx44 rear shock and a TTx22 front cartridge kit. Easy to install and includes custom springs and comprehensive installation instructions. Price: $4395

You can check them out at http://www.powercellperformance.com/

I can't think of any sensible reason to go Ohlins on the 990: I spent an egg and a half on a very worthwhile Superplush upgrade, and see very little bang for the buck on an Ohlins upgrade.

On the old GS, sure, but not the 990: it's got a heluva suspension out of the box. A few refinements provided by competent third parties, and it's perfectly fine.

YMMV.

How much is an "egg and a half"?
Assuming its $1500 the extra $1k really isn't that much given the difference in performance. Just sayin you've already spent $$$ so a but more ......

$800

I can't imagine that price will get you into the Ohlins game, and the difference was phenomenal: more compliant on the highway, and more control in the rough stuff. Love it.

The only possible improvement I'm left wondering about is a conversion to S-spec with its increased travel.
