Update on FR300

I detoured and am now in Payson. Any suggestions on a nice way around to Winona would be appreciated. Looks like the roads north of Winona are open.

Here is the road closure info http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconi...telprdb5441646 I should have looked at that last week... doh.
Elle, thanks for the heads up.

I went through via FR64 AKA "Fire Control Road" on Wednesday, but when we checked out FR300 AKA "Rim Road" there was a sign on the gate stating construction would be finished and it would be open no later than 5pm on 28 March (yesterday).

I downloaded them when they first hit the website with no problem. I opened them in Garmin's mapsource.

Jerry, The rim road 300 is open now. They advertised in our local paper that all the lakes are accesable now and it takes opening the 300 road to do that.
Control road is also easy to find. It is down the 260 just past Khoels Ranch. you turn right at Tonto Village. Control road starts at Tonto Village. If you were to take Piute Draw Road, you come out right at my sons ranch. I am just a couple miles as the crow fly's from him. If you don't take Piute Draw and stay on Control road you will end up back on the 87/260 just a couple miles south of Pine. When you are coming through, let me know and I"ll meet you somewhere.

I think Ladybug was referring to my post above.

I think I see the problem, the AZBDR 500pt file is a gpd file and not a gpx...guess I'll be downloading basecamp now.

I will be in Scottsdale on 5th driving to Globe on 6th. Probably ride from 288 to Young (on 202 & 54) and back (Clear Creek & 203) on 7th. On 8th will be in 260 and ride down to Young then Control Road to Spring Valley and back Rim Rd. On 9th ride form Spring Valley to Winona and back. See gpx file in Layin' down Tracks West.

I think the difference may be the zip file, bit I am in the same boat. COBDR downloaded perfect, AZBDR not so much. So going to buy the map and had draw it in Delorme.

mmm,
the previous 500pt files (for 60csx and such) were .gpx?
i'll ask why the now used the .gdb file which is the standard garmin.
you can always open in mapsource or basecamp and then save as .gpx.

That may be the problem. I am pretty sure I can use gpx files with my delorme, but don't have either of the before mentions programs to convert to gpx.
