The DVD & map release will be in January like we do every new BDR.

This is when they will be available to 1st purchase.
Touratech will have the world premiere show in Seattle.

Then GOAZ having the next premiere shortly after as they are the key dealer sponsor for AZ. Attend that event and purchase there. After that there will be many other premieres throughout the country and it will be available for web order (sometime in Feb.) after these are finished. We offer up the option for any dealer or multi-dealer group in the country to host a DVD premiere, but they must contact us/me.

Since these maps get printed at Vision Graphics in Loveland, which is the next town over from me, I meet up with Court or Justin and always pull one out of the box after they come fresh off the line. I'll let ya know when I have one in my hand.

Last spring a group of us rode the area along the east rim of the Grand Canyon on Navajo land. We didn't get a permit.

We were following Crawdaddy's tracks. They took us thru the backyard of a ranch house and into an area with no road, so we turned back and found a good way thru this area.

Next day Rob and his crew came thru the same area preriding the AZBDR, with permits. A Navajo policeman stopped them and said he was looking for some bikers who were causing trouble in the area.

Rob straightened him out about what nice people we were.

So anyway getting a permit might be a good idea.

In the first iteration of the AZBDR I think the guys skipped the GC overlooks. We went to the south one. It was a little hard to find and get to but the view was worth it as are most views of the Grand Canyon.

These were just north of Nanoweap Falls

Just search him out as a user and the threads he's started. - http://www.advrider.com/forums/searc...rchid=28381916

It appears he's shared several tracks of various rides he's done.

I know that Rob was back in AZ riding ALOT this fall and fine tuning the route.

Some DVD premiere info has been posted:
http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroute...rship-Near-You

Along with this fundraiser rally in Wickenberg in the spring:
http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroute...rch-20-23-2014

These BDR cost alot of $ to produce and that is not recaptured.
Touratech spends over 20K per route and they do not see that $ back directly. Yes they sell more product, but it's a net loss for them and thus they can only afford to run BDR per year.

i don't think so. there is always a premier for each dvd and the map and dvd are then sold at those. in the past it's been about a month after that they hit the website for sale.

AZBDR gpx files

Looks like the gpx files were released yesterday on the BDR website. There are a lot of trails it travels that I had not seen on maps before. They also include the gas stops as waypoints. Looks like you can traverse east after you finish the route to pickup the UTBDR as well. Here's an overview story on the AZBDR we did.

Looking forward to seeing the paper map when it's ready.
