KLR 650 pre 08 turn signal issue

Searched the web and ADV, could not find what I am looking for.

Anyway. Have an 06 KLR 650, replaced the stock headlight bulb with a much brighter 80/100 W. Also changed the fuse from a 10A to a 15A.

Now headlight works great, front flashers won't work at all and back flashers are on solid (unless I'm high on the RPMs in which case they blink fast) if turn signal switch is on. Brake light works OK.

What to do? Are the stock turn signals not drawing enough current now? Does the wiring harness need to be upgraded?

Thanks for your help!

I would put the stock bulb back in and retrace your steps.

the 80 watt low beam is prolly drawing the voltage down when the rpms are low & the flasher doesn't like it. sometimes replacing the flasher will do it since they get old & the contacts get higher resistance over time. Or, go to a solid state flasher

edit.... wait..... the front signals turn on & don't flash, or don't turn on at all? the flasher needs both front & rear to make it flash on the standard system. if the rear is steady & the front is dark then the front is burnt out or the wire is disconnected, or there is corrosion in the socket or connections.

if both front & rear come on but just sit there its the flasher

Front signals are dark. None of new system is LED based.

Will recheck the connections.
