Romantic candlelit dinner near Cordele.

On hwy 280 just a few yards from the entrance to GA Veterans State Park & Resort at Lake Blackshear is the amazing Daphne's Lodge restaurant.
The appetizer of Blue Cheese Chips was mouth-watering and tasty.
Then the salad with in- house dressings

My selection, house specialty was catfish
The Mrs chose the steak
The owner Sonny was a cordial and friendly host who let us in with our motorcycle garb and hopes to see more ADV riders, he will give us our own parking. Great food, upscale in the level of food joints, we had a memorable evening and highly recommend if you re close by.

i love this place... and apparently so does everyone else. this place gets packed FAST. only open thursday-saturday, about 5:30pm-11PM i think. they revamped their website and now their business hours are not on there. menu is, though. excellent gator tail and catfish. i happen to live in ray city. if you're coming through, PM me.. if i'm off work or otherwise available, i might be able to meet up!

#2. Smokin' Pig, Valdosta, Ga
off I-75 Exit 22, about 1.5 miles east of the interstate at "Old US-41" and North Valdosta Rd. Excellent BBQ with good portions.

if i ever go to tybee island, i go to The Crab Shack....

Thanks for the recommendations! They all look good. I particularly like the looks of the Crab Shack. I'll need to dust off the pirate outfit.

all of these are just ideas... everyone's pallet is a little different. :)

i'm really enjoying this thread, though. not a good feeling to get hungry for a steak at 3am, though.

If you dust off the pirate suit and wear it to the Crab Shack on your cycle... give us a buzz, we'll join you!

A stop on the Grand Tour of Georgia

Because the Ernbos just can't get enough tagging, we signed up for the Grand Tour of Georgia!
Stop #2 on our list was J&J BBQ in Franklin, Georgia. Very literally, a shack on the side of the road. Lots of smoke pouring a) from the huge smoker that occupies 1/2 the shack and b) from the 3 employees therein. Guess the laws about smoking in a public facility don't apply here...

The menu isn't extensive: $3 for a sandwich, $7 for a plate. We sprung for the plate, which included white bread to spread the BBQ on.

No tables, no parking, no restrooms, no froo froos. Good cheap BBQ though.
When you are on the beautiful stretch of hwy 27 between La Grange and Carrollton, swing off on 34, its just north of the Chattahoochee River up the hill. Check the map for location... No website, no real address, can't google it. Just ride on faith, it's just up the hill from Subway.

Johnny Mitchell's Smokehouse in Euharlee

There is lots to do in Euharlee, near Rome. A pleasant afternoon can be spent exploring the covered bridge, dipping your hot feet in the river, then head over for some incredible food at Johnny Mitchells Smokehouse. It also has a bridge near it, the "Unofficial Uncovered Bridge"

Pick up a super-cool Tshirt

Enjoy a great meal for about $10 with the uber-cheesy mac-n-cheese

But the piece de resistance, the crowning jewel of this meal, is the Coca-Cola Cake, a MUST have. Moist, not too sweet, delicious.

Great post!
If anyone has posted the great places in N.GA, lemme add two places (for now).

Amicalola Falls is not only a beautiful N.GA state park, but the lodge is a great destination for a meal or an overnight stay (or what my wife refers to as "camping out").

Here's a few of our riding crew enjoying a meal on an earlier "Polar Bear Ride" on a NYear's day:

And (not to go too long) but we like to run up to that pseudo-Bavarian town of Helen, GA (or as we refer to it, "Let's ride to Helen, back". (sorry).

Huc-a-Poos at Tybee Island

This is always a favorite for us when we head out to Tybee Island. We call it our fun "hippie" bar. It always has people there. It is especially packed on the weekends and nights. They even have corn hole games and such. The patio is nice, as well as the bar. We normally go in our VW Bus but today we decided to ride out on our bikes while we had a break in the rain that we have been getting. We went for lunch and had our favorite of Knucklehead Nachos ($5) which we split between the two of us. They also have really good pizza. Their prices on the menu include tax. So for our nachos and two cokes it was $7 even. We couldn't finish the nachos either! It is a fun place to stop, hang out, and have some food in a fun atmosphere.

So good that you might end up with this look on your face....

Merle's Barbecue near Dallas in Paulding County on Ga 61.

Best burgers in west Georgia and good local BBQ.

Very down to earth and laid back but everyone is friendly and very "down homey." Come on in.

The food is prepared made to order but it is hot and fresh.

We selected the 8 oz burger but for a big appetite they offer a 16 oz burger too.

Enjoy.
