Not in Georgia, but just barely...

OK, OK. OK this is not in GA, but for 99% of us, 99% of the ride is through our state. Head up thru Summerville, make a hard left and head up towards Menlo and on to Mentone. It's nice and cool on top of the mountain, but you can head left in town for a wonderful twisty ride to DeSoto Falls, stick your feet in the coooooool waters. Our daughter and Max the wonder dog (pre-soaking)

If you are bringing your lady along for a romantic ride, you can wander around this quaint burg, then head to lunch at The Wildflower Cafe. (Be careful, the driveway is a BITCH, might try back entrance)(that's what he said)

A reclining indian greets you in the hippy-trippy entrance to the restaurant. This place is laid back, eclectic, and full of stuff to look at.

The menu changes almost every day, we had tomato pie and chicken paninis, while a gentleman strolled and picked his guitar for us. The atmosphere is very laid back, no rush on anything. Get comfy, it might be a while.

Not too cheap, not too expensive, worth the ride. www.mentonewildflower.com
Monday thru Thursday 11am - 2pm
Friday & Saturday
11am - 8pm

Sunday Brunch 11-6

Old School Diner......Round 2

The Coastal Taggers ADVers decided to get together and re-visit Chef Jerome at the Old School Diner near Townsend, GA. This is a great place in McIntosh County.

What a meal

And our host really took care of us.

We're looking at shrimp, fish, oyesters, scallops, crab cakes, BBQ ribs, fries, potato salad, an cole slaw!! Whew!! It was awsome. The pic doesn't really depict the scale of this spread! Five of us did NOT finish it off!!

You would not regret it,... it is unique and well worth the detour.

I was kind of hoping that the little diner in Reidsville would have panned out so I could at it here, but alas, it was not to be.

Four Winds Restaurant - Cusseta GA

I don't have a picture of my bike in front of this one, but it is worth mentioning here, and it is legendary around Fort Benning. More importantly, it is home of the Ranger Burger and probably the nicest folks you'll ever meet at a burger joint.

Augsburg Haus, Evans GA

Not really a dive since they just moved to a nice new place, but another one of my Georgia favorites nonetheless. I stopped by there yesterday for a big schnitzel....the perfect hangover cure. The Augsburg Haus in Evans, GA has some of the best German food I've had since leaving the country four years ago.

Evans, GA 30809
