Cool deal. Looks like you got it fixed by someone local. Good on you.

I use local myself. I don't like sending stuff UPS because I read it on a forum. I use Q&E.

They do anything from mild to wild. Just a short drive across town. Cars motors, powersports, and everything in between.

Cycle Wizard?? Hmmmm. I would not even consider them as no contact info. A fancy picture of a head just does not do it for me.

Really. Just because Cycle Wizard doesn't have a web site you shouldn't doubt his work. Your loss.

Yes. 2mm stroke Falcion rod, +6mm custom piston, custom cam, his combustion chamber magic, BIG valves and of course ported 'n polished, back cut all of the transmission gears.

Don't ask how much $$ I have in this engine. I don't even know nor do I want to.

Steve, I have plans for my engine and already got some moneys put away. I need to talk to you because I don't want to ruin my engine. Can I PM you a little later?

That engine you just showed in particular made me envious. Now I gotta do it myself, maybe not to that extreme.

Oh I don't know. Even the high dollar build ups only net a few extra ponies. Well worth it for a racer looking for an edge, but it isn't double the horsepower or anything. OEM is what 37-40 hp? It would be near miraculous to see 50 hp out of a naturally aspirated XL/XR motor.

I just called Cycle Wizard and he says my motor as built will make 55 BHP at the rear wheel.

So you are probably making 60 at the crank, compared to the OEM 43? That puts it squarely between the KTM 525 and 690 Enduro. That is a very impressive on that motor, especially considering new technology is really any better.

How about an address? Phone number? Or something in english?

Looking at the head from them, it looks like it was just slapped together. Undercut and unfinished welds, dirty studs, filth in the port. Not the kind of work I would want done.

My bad. I guess it was an unfinished head I was looking at. Still, I would like to know at least a phone number or address of a place I was getting work done. Found nothing with a Google search except a website with jibberish.

I just don't know what to say. Slapped together? Filth? Clean your glasses or your monitor. Sorry if I didn't install new studs.

I have CW's contact info and you ain't getting it.

I'm not looking for double horsepower or anything like that. I'd be happy with better engine flow, better throttle response, ect. If you look in the ports, the metal is way lumpy and bumpy. I don't know how much you can port an XL head, those fuckers are already huge, but it looks like it could definitely use a polish. More or less for hobby too.

I love seeing modern machining technologies applied to old and vintage machines. I don't need a new bike to keep up or have fun. I just wish I had more money, looks like ~1200 bucks to do these engines up, not including machine work. My machinist was talking to me about putting in oversized bronze phosphorus seats, oversized valves, 4 angle valve job, polish, all the good stuff. I plan on doing this in about 6-8months so I can actually ride the damn thing for a bit.

BTW, as much as I spent on this old bike, including interest on the loan, cost of maintenance, parts tools, rebuild and costly mistakes, etc, I should be balls deep in a KTM right now. Too bad I only ride Honda.

And yes, I was dumb enough to buy a thirty year old bike on credit. Believe, I paid for it hard.
