My buddy and I tried to ride here today but it was closed. Went to Nepaug instead and had a blast! Saw somebody on a ktm coming up the hill to thomaston dam on our way out. Anybody on here?

Did it rain a lot upstream a few days ago? That's usually the only reason they close.

One year they stayed closed in the Spring due to a lot of dangerous hanging tree branches from an ice storm but that was unusual.

Wasn't that 2 years ago? That was the year we had those 2 bad storms, lost electricity for 1 week both times.

All you need is one significant rain storm and they will close for weeks.

Water Level and Trail Bike Open/Closure Information
At a pool stage of 12 feet, the Thomaston Dam Basin experiences flooding which causes a closure of the trail system. At 26 feet, portions of the paved road in the basin flood which causes restricted access to the area. These closures ensure public safety and proper flood control operations for downstream cities and towns. To view the pool height please click on the "Water Levels" link below. You will be able to view the current pool levels at Thomaston Dam and inquire about the trail bike status. Please note, the trails are subject to flooding during heavy rains. PLEASE NOTE: Several days may be needed after a closure for drying time and trail repairs. Please call 860-283-5540 for current trail status.

A bunch of us are heading to Thomston Dam this Friday if anyone else is interested. CallMeBuzz, KreechTM, Kenny61 and myself so far. Possibly Rusty Rocket.

Meeting around 2PM.

If it wasn't for all the rocks, roots, trees, hills, mud, ruts, logs, sand, and lack of tar, I'd be a damn good off-road rider!
