a couple of thumpers vs a couple of 2 cilinders...

Well, this is a bike vs bike tread, and I did not know where to put it since it has a road warrier, thumpers and a beast.

I have been on all of this bike except the XT and since they are all more or less in the same price range down here I was wondering what the collective has to say about them. If money was not an issue I would go with the tenere but this bike is the most expensive, and also the only one I have never even seen.

I have driven the DL650 and it was my “next” bike, until I got into riding solo, since my wife is not interested anymore. So now there is no need for it, I do love the power, vibe free feeling, it is a little short, but I could always order a tall seat and put a sheepskin on top of the seat for a 33-35 in seat height that I am a costume to (KLR rider). And I could move to a new place and carry all my crap on it!

The GS and Versys are more nimble, smaller (this is a good thing) but with as much as power as I need, and they can carry as much crap as I require. The BMW will scare me with the cost of ownership I am sure of that. The versys is a Kawasaki and I like that, a little vibes (I read) but nothing worse than a thumper.

The big question mark is for the Tenere, how is it? Fast? How fast? Mpgs? I know there is no info from the US and no aftermarket, but I don’t care (for now) I just info on that bike to see if it is worth the extra money.

Thanks!

Firstly there is a massive thread on the Ten in this same sub forum.

Secondly, it'll do over 100mph (160kmph). But I wouldn't buy a ten against a DL or versus just because you want speed.

The power comes on smooth and low down - where this bike shines is when you get off the dirt road an onto tracks (not speed).

Although it is fully faired and not bad on the freeway.

As per mpg - not sure. It has a 23l tank which will take you 400km!

P man, thanks!

The only bad thing about the massive treads is there are no real answers to your specific questions, much less a direct comparison of you want. I have read a 10-20 page part, and will continue to read it.

Thanks

I reckon test ride one - you'll know pretty quick if its the bike for you.

One word of warning, its pretty heavy at 190kgs dry, and its a little high, if you are less than five ten or so you'd want to lower it. (I'm six foot - the height is fine)

thanks!

I see the seat height is a tap taller than the stock KLR seat so I do not see a problem with it since I ride a KLR with a seat cover (that makes it a little taller). The weight of 190 kg is lower than the KLR 195, so I do not see it as a problem there.

I just need to find one at least at a dealer to sit on it, but here in Mexico this bikes are not available unless you put a 100% deposit on one, and then testing becomes worthless.

Thanks I have found 2 treads on this bike here
