Geico + Speeding + Arizona = ??

Not even sure where to post this. I was nabbed by the friendly highway patrol for speeding. I can honestly say he had the wrong guy because I was going faster than his gun said. I figure he got the truck I was passing. Anyway...

It's a $240 fine and 3 points. I'm tempted to ask for leniency it but it's a two-day trip up to the court. My buddies at bigger firms in bigger cities used to do these by the dozen for $100/each when they were starting out but I guess Kingman, AZ isn't a big enough market.

Anyone else have Geico in Arizona? How bad was it after you got a few points on an otherwise pristine record? Thanks.

Edit: Or if you know an attorney in that area who can turn this into a no-point violation so I can pay the fee...

Do you know that your rate will go up?

I've got State Farm and on the rare occasion I've gotten a ticket, my rate has not. My agent tells me that State Farm won't look at your record unless they've got a reason to. Makes sense given the huge number of insured they have. Their employees have better things to do than comb through the police records every time they renew a policy.

You could always take driver school and the ticket won't appear on your record.

AZ doesn't have traffic school to eliminate points ? Thats what we do in CA. You can duck points by going to TS every 18 months I believe here. We have to pay fine plus Traffic School fees.

A friend was nabbed for illegal passing a couple of weekends ago on the way down Yarnell. Options were: $175 fine & points or take an online traffic school for $173. He elected the online school. You should be given similar options.

He could just ignore the ticket, drop the insurance,
and Sheriff Joe will let him model some pink underwear.

It happens to all the criminals that head south from Kingman.

So how many traffic school drop-outs are there here?
I always just pay the fine because,
I figure I already failed the class
by getting caught.
And I think my insurance rates are lower because,
I have never attended traffic school.

Back in the good old days of the late 1980's, early 1990's, traffic school got you out of the fine too. I remember doing that at least once. But you actually had to attend in person back then too.

I've finally learned how to not collect speeding tickets, which is better still.

I just did the online traffic school for a ticket in the car. You can only do it every two years, and I think it can't be for a speed of 20 or more over. Also only for regular speeding, not criminal or certain other violations like aggressive driving etc. All in all cost me 229.00, but no points etc. Ticket was for 12 over. The online stuff is super boring, but can be done at your own pace and time. You can log in and out whenever. The class may be less dry, but can be a hassle.
