I haven't really had any problems with heat under the seat yet but I see how it could be an issue

Just returned from the annual Adventure Rider meeting in Switzerland. Surprisingly I was the one and only rider with a 1190 R.

Short: My old 950 was a tiny bit better off road than the 1190 R. Suspension let me down a few times as it went all the way. But I used the standard setting. Next time I use Sport setting and see, if it makes a difference. It was good fun until I have filled the Ram Air Intake - So the bike was drownded. Got her running again in no time, just need to replace the water with oil and she will be fine again.

Because I don't like them. The bike looks much slimmer without. Never had any on the 950S, nor on the Superenduro. Never missed them and never felt the need of them as well.

Are the lateral metal plates protecting the tank (usually on the non-R version) delivered with the R version as well or did you need to order them?

lol awesome pics, good to see these things getting offroad!

although, how is it that your bike has more mud than anyone else? and how did you get mud on the seat where you were sitting?
you sure you didnt just throw mud at this? LOL
(I've never managed to get a bike this muddy no matter how hard I have tried)

Also when you say standard and sports setting, have you got EDS (electronis suspension)? as mine and everyone in aust i have seen is just a manual adjustment.

I wouldn't be too quick to knock a man's muddy bike unless you were out riding with him on the day! They've obviously found a deep bog hole or two!
Re the adjustments, I read somewhere that KTM list the clicks req'd in the handbook for the "R" model so you can replicate the EDS settings.

lol only stirring.. (and slightly jealous as i havent had the chance to get that muddy yet)

I'll have a look through the manual for those clicks.. it would be interesting to see how much different it is to ride.

The R can't have EDS, but the "presets" are in the handbook and on some sticker inside the fairing.
