  • 40ish minutes to Opotiki.
Stay there 2 nights. $34/site (I assume non powered) for 2 persons. We'd get 2 small tents to the site, so $17/night ea. What say you?
so stay there on the way over and on the way back?

Four good things about Gizboring.

1. KiwiPete lives their, the helpful chap he is.
2. The very reasonably priced motels on the main drag.
3. Good pubs and restaurants not far away
4. seeing Gizboring disappear in the rear view mirror as ya leave
it seems like quite a cool place actually

We were trying to organise an exercise to sneak in under the lines. But if the snipers are standing down...Pick a time & we'll attempt to match an ETA.

Been talking to Jatz & have finalised-ish our intentions. Thurs avo ferry. Dinner by Nutso, full bike service by Nutso in his garage while we make small talk in the lounge, beds turned down & mint on pillow by Nutso by 9pm.

Fri ride up - route by Nutso. Dinner Fri nite sounds good. I would like to catch up with the names & put faces to them.
I'm keen to cruise up to NP & not go too hard core if possible to keep my energy levels up for the weekend & minimise breaking stuff on Schmidt. Jatz is quite... um ... careful about keeping his bike nice & shiny

Actually it's bit of a worry as we went for a magnificent ride today out To Kenepuru & it took us 7 hours to do about 250ks. Mind you one Sth Island K is equal to 7 North island ks from what I'm led to believe.

Do I need to bring a spare beancan just in case or do you have a spare one up there Phil?

If ya want a nice little detour off the main road, one of my favourites is to follow the Wanganui river on the West side and come out at Kaiwi. Add about an hour for that.

Phil - that's certainly my intended route - very deserted up there - discovered it courtesy of you 'Naki lads on your 'Liquifaction' tour :)
