Hi!

My 2007 990 Adventure has almost 28,000 miles and has never had the fork oil changed. I assume that it is about time that the oil be changed. I have not been able to locate a good photo tutorial, maybe I have just over looked it. There are no leaks or problems, just PM. What weight oil do y'all use? Thanks!

Donnie

I used 7,5wt and was happy with it.

However I should say I am totally insensitive to suspension settings. I never bottomed them and that sounds quite satisfying to me.
Cheers.

I don't ride very aggressive, but at 24,000 mi, my 07 forks were leaking. And unknown to me, the rear shock was completely toasted and had several problems. I ended up sending them both off and a complete reworking on both ends, so I also had the springs, valves and all changed. What started out being a small seal problem, ended up costing me nearly a thousand bucks.

I have re-gooped the rear wheel and let it dry. I have one leaker! Will let it sit with pressure for another hour or so and then check them all again before dis-mounting the tire and re-doing the leaker.

After five or six hours 5 were leaking! All had the dimple where the spoke threads in, except for one. It was nice and rounded, so I shaved the top of the goop off with a razor and re-applied. The others I just applied more goop on the dimple area. I will re-mount the tire later today.

OK! The rear wheel seems to be leak free again and has been mounted back on the moto! The front wheel arrived at Woody's today and will be finished and shipped this coming Friday. They actually called me when the wheel arrived! And I am going to attempt a Clutch Jet cleaning in a few minutes. It has never been cleaned before! I wonder what is in there? Some of the stuff I order will probably not arrive before I go back to Mexico! But, it will all work out!

It seems like I have backed the clutch jet on my 2007 990 ADV at least a foot, but have been unable to get it out! What are the tricks for this? I am missing something! Thanks!

Hey Donnie,

I read on here you sold your house. Good deal. Congrats!

It's a really nice place. I figured it would go quick. Can only imagine how much you have to do to get ready to be gone. Been there and done that!

I am still down in Mexico and will be til September at least.

Adios,

Royse

Hi Royse!

Yes, I have a lot going on! Plus repairs on my moto that insurance has not paid, but money is supposedly headed directly to my account. I have already started ordering things, some of which are already back ordered till after my closing Aug 28. But, I will stay at my sisters and have offers to stay at several friends, so I won't be out in the cold! I would be headed back to Mexico very quickly after the 28th, but only God knows how much longer my dad will be here. I doubt that he will still be here at closing, but you never know! Brain cancer is normally very quick!

Is your lady with you? Are you riding much?

Donnie
