arais aris - back again !
.
.
.
thank you kindly SHOOBY and GLEN2926 for your very kind comments, much appreciated !!
.
.
.

.
.
.
going along up by the loch i ran into a traffic jam....it took 35 seconds to clear but i passed the time with relative ease anyway !
.
.

.
.
got caught with my pants down, so to speak, when traffic moved off and i was holding it in my hands.........the camera, that is !
.
.
i moved off and up and away through tarbet and on north. i wanted to hit fort william - god only knows why, looked good on the map...
.
.
stopped in for some food / coffee in the famous green welly place....
.
.

.
.
big deal, that was....not sure why the big noise is about this place........i must have missed the ambience and serenity and vibe completely.....but i guess
i am a very thick F**K at the best of times....!!!
.
.
onwards to check out glencoe...........this place would stir the blood of a four hundred year dead scottish corpse.....now you are talking...real blood, balls and
wild terror here......this place would have everything in spades, of this i was sure...
.
.
but before leaving the ould welly place i spotted this london taxi.....his meter must be running like f**k....!!
.
.

.
.
onwards to warrior country...!!
.
.

.
.
be gods....she must be cold up there...
.
.

.
.
.
on my way out over the hills and through the glens i came across this rare species, found only above 3,000 feet, he makes a noise resembling a cat being strangled !
.
.
joking aside, it was cool to hear a good bagpiper doing his thing in the great outdoors....!!... hat's off to ye jock...!!
.
.

.
.
my firm belief is - if you've got it, flaunt it......!!!
.
.
i think he was from the clan mc donald or burger king, not sure though.
.
.
by now i was near glen etive.....and the scenery was vast and stark and mighty......i could still hear the pipes and they were only gettin louder, i must
be gettin near glencoe...
.
.

.
.
this is near gelncoe i think and it was cool but it felt as if i was travelling over lost dreams and hardships and pain from long long ago...i had to stop plenty..
.
.

.
.
.

.
.
i had time to reflect some stuff here as up here all there is is you yourself, alone.....and of course i couldnt stay here forever but it would tempt you to..
.
.
.

.
.
it was a wee bit of a pilgrimage for me being here and it did not disappoint in any way....
.
.
up on the ould horse and away now to better thoughts and dreams and not living in previous lives or torments...
.
.
.

.
.
.
i know what you're thinkin...he's a bit mad that f**k, but you don't know what i'm thinkin, sometimes i don't even know what i'm thinkin....
.
wife tells me....i'm not thinkin at all...!!!
.
.
me mood was a bit sombre to be honest but i scooted on up to fort william behind so many f**kin shite drivers, caravans and f**kin mobile home things...!!
.
.
they clog the bleedin arteries of society these f**kin things and as for the stupid asshole pricks in their f**kin toyotas, hondas and such - you are all ARSEHOLES !
.
.
get off the bloody road you morons....!!!!***!!!
.
.
rant slowly receding now...it came on quite sudden like this time...no warning...apologies...!!
.
.
so fort william i approached mildly uptight to say the least....right..i am hungry now.....pull in....place by the loch/sea/water/whatever...

looks ok....crannog.....irish for house built on wooden sticks over the water for security from marauding fairies and such....

so i head in...lots of tourists here, russians....americans....french.....german (i think).....must be good.....menu.....pricey too....definitely must be good....!!

..................IT WAS UTTER CRAP..................PURE DOGDODOO..................PATHETIC................ .YOU ARE A CROWD OF CHANCERS...........!!!!

in other words, not very good at all.....

i ordered salmon and spinach pasta....sounds delightful doesn't it.....hmmmmmmmm...!!

take a good look at it...do you see any spinach, do you ? i f**kin don't, and i was there in front of it for real....!!

and what can you see......yes...f**kin onions.......it was full of f**kin onions...i hate f**kin onions....i really hate them........no bleedin spinach and plate full of
bloody onions.....!!

as you can see i posted the picture twice to be sure to be sure that it was awful...!!! and i am not that fussy really...

i pushed it aside and the cute waitress came over and took it away without a word or look, i wasn't the first it seems....

for dessert i had brownie and ice cream.....the brownie was on its fourth reheat in the microwave, it was almost a fossil and the ice cream, well it was brutal too..

i thought i may as well order some really crappy coffee to wash the whole experience down....and it did......!!!

for your own sake do not go in to this place.........

.
.
sorry about that and the slight intermission,,
.
.
i went and took my prozac and sanity tablets and a big glass of water and fell much better now. calmness was creeping in and around my brain... a fog really...
.
.
.
well full after such a generous lunch i decided to head out the road towards skye............!!!
.
.
long story short... waste of time...the basterd caravans and a possee of crap ould drivers had the whole road covered, no way out here...!!
.
.
i regrouped (is this possible) and headed out the north road towards fort dungus, angus, dufus or something like that...but again the bloody mobile homers and
motorhomes had that pass covered too.....!!!
.
.
the only way out was to go back south in a blaze of dust....cutting up the ould farts as best i could and shooting from the hip with curses only the devil himself
would approve of.
.
.
and so and lo it came to pass i would be heading toward the town of oban...!! at least thats what i figured from google maps etc.
.
.
my guts were rumbling like a freight train on three wheels......the crap i had eaten was coming back to haunt me, all the way up my throat and into the helmet...!!
.
.
well, not quite but i felt as if it could.
.
.
and so round another bend up a sweeping piece of good scottish tarmac and this came into view....
.
.
.

.
.
happiness restored
.
.
bit of a closer look at the castle...
.
.

.
.
.
i know you are sick looking at this castle but it is not long now before my camera quits altogether after slowly screwing itself up...
.
.

.
.
bit of bike porn as filler...
.
.
.

.
.
.
this is last pic before camera quits totally on me and i then have to resort to phone camera thing...!
.
.

.
.
.
after standing around on the side of the road shouting at my camera and then trying the kiss of life on it and failing, i had to determine whether to bury it here
in the beautiful scottish wilderness or take it home and f**k it into the bin........i decided on the latter eventually..!
.
.
having made a momentous decision i decided to celebrate and go get some of this stuff..
.
.

as time went on inside this quiet wee place a sense of order was being restored in my brain...kinks were being straightened and foggy areas were starting to clear...
this was a beneficial time for me and my brain....we were getting to know each other again........not sure how long it would last as we dont usually get on for long...
but now is now and it was ok for both of us.
.
.
back up on the horse again....easy girl...and off into oban.....i only wanted to get into oban in order to get out the other side towards garelochhead (!?)
.
.
great scottish architecture even here in a simple row of houses...
.
.
.

.
.
phone pics...remember.....so please excuse quality/steadiness of shot/blurriness...!!!
.
.
slight aside here...i remember coming to oban by car from south of england a few years ago...meeting up with a crew of sailors from home and heading out to
discover the islands round here...first stop was tobermory or more accurately the mishnish bar......(tobermory now infamous as ballymory !...whats the f**kin story in
ballymory ?).....anyway full day drinking and i decide to go back to the boat and stupidly walked off the pier........and down....into a rubber dinghy......nae bother...
....decide to row out to the sailboat.....rowing away for about five minutes........then i realised the dinghy was still tied to the bloody pier........and it only got worse
and worse after that..........names like glenlivet....macallan.....laophraoig.....and other malts and mixes and porter........it was a long night and there was something
about removing a big bag of mussels from the back of a truck......not sure about this but the brain seems to remember something...
.
.
.
sorry back to here and now

the road from oban to garelochhead...........BLOODY BRILLIANT............even for me...........mega.....!!!
.
.
the best yet...this was what the whole bloody thing was about............just perfect.........one corner.....little bit of gravel and tail went....just enough to
hurt my back....like a jerk.......and grip again......and away...........mega.........!!!.........no pics...i was having too much fun here...!!
.
.
too soon i was in garelochhead........long name for small place.......but nice....
.
.

.
.
in the distance is the start of the crinan canal (i had another night of it here in the long ago...but the brain is giving nothing away on any details for me).
.
.
.
gotta go now, sorry, but i leave you with a pic of a tiger in the grass...........!!
.
.

welcome back....failte arais
.
.
screwed up my back and so now doped up on meloxicam and other nice things....so a bit wobbly.......!!
.
.
before going on (and on and on)....i enclose a pic of the fabulous restaurant (not..!) in forty will.i.a.m.
.
.

.
.
.
i headed to the first lock (not loch) on the crinan canal....it might actually be the second lock (not loch)...anyway....here it is and a big busty swedish thing
is pulling into it at a fair lick of speed.......many times i have dreamt of big busty swedish things but in reality it was just a big boat from guess where...!!
.
.

.
.
.
yeah i know it's just more lock and water but i did take the picture just for you...
.
.

.
.
.
right, now time to piss on up to inverararararaaray.........
.
.
great run too but not in the same league as before..
.
.
with smoke spewing from my tyres.....engine hissing and a bitchin........my head light from another weeee dram...i landed next to the local jail.....!!
.
.

.
.
good range of whiskies in this wee place too..
.
.

.
.
note how steady the camera phone thing was held.....you can read writin and all in this one......
.
.

.
.
it was gettin a bit overcast now...in my mind it was ever so....enough says i to myself.........find a place to lay the weary heed....

i mad a few phonecalls to places but nothing doing i think.........i says to myself what about ballocxs again...it was grand there....nobody lynched me or
hassled me there.....!!!....fair enough...i'd go back there before the gloamin came down and over me.......
.
.
fishy boats at rest in inverarararaararay...
.
.

.
.
.
just when you thought you'd be getting a diary type litany of profanities all in daily order i throw this one in for you....while spinning around gettin this far
i did spy a few grown men acting the tool with longish stick things up on a grassy hill with sandy bits.....these same macho men wore some gear that
must have been the height of fashion once upon a time...rather splendid in their plus fours/fives and sixes they spoke with plummy accents as if from an old
disney story about maidens and such......
.
.

.
.
each to their own i suppose....i admit i did play golf once somewhere near LA and we went around on a golf cart that had a full fridge of drink....it
started poorly...bad swings etc....but as the drink flowed my game opened up and the guys i was with were amazed at both how well i played and how
much i drink needed to stop dehydrating....it was the one and only time i ever played......god bless the kind old man who brought me...he gave me his set
of sticks and insisted i would surely be good sometime...!!
.
.
.
.
by the time i got back to the bike...this poor fella was being arrested and brought inside for questioning...
.
.
.

.
.
.
on up the road and soon i was in tarbet...i was eating on the run as everytime i opened the visor i got a mouthful of tasty midges.......could do with more
salt...but very nourishing all the same..........the place was coming down with them
.
.
so here i was back at loch lomond
.
.

.
.
back at base balloxchs house hotel...got a good deal again this night but a smaller bed....i ordered food and got fed...enough said..!!
.
.

.
.
turbot and sweet potato..........??????????.........brutal......... ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
.

.
.

.
.

.
.
eventually made it to Ayr and by then once more riding on the fumes of the fumes of petrol...lucky not to run out............too chancy this way of going..!!!
.
.
stopped at this abbey too.....on road to ferry land..........!!
.
.

.
.
and without the metal lump..
.
.

.
.
no I didn't pay the fee to look closer at this ruin.............I just wanted to stop awhile as these roads had speed cameras to calculate average speeds..........so needs must !!
.
.
stopped again in Girvan - not a major tourist town............but it did have a marina thing..
.
.

.
.
and in the background some boatbuilding and boat repair...
.
.
.

.
.
out in the water is a huge nipple rock thing.....really impressive from every angle......it's called Ailsa Craig I think....see in the distance..
.
.
.

.
.
a few arty farty pics.............I know its all bollox but they were on my camera phone and no one else would look at them, so apologies, you can fly past them...
.
.

.
.

.
.
.

.
.
.

.
.
the road was in great condition for what I think would be very busy...........and mother of god it had scenery to spare............
.
this is where I was heading...
.
.

.
.
and this is the way I had come.......
.
.
.

.
.

....back again
.
.
Shooby.....hello ! re the camera phone............its iphone and when u have pics taken u can go in and edit them.....simple thing a magic wand...........click it to enhance...
..but often as not I undo it as it looks a bit weird..............then upload to my pictures file........then upload to smugmug (like this product !!!).............!!!
.
.
bit simple really but it works except the phone camera gives crap zoom facility.............then again it is a phone first !!
.
.
.
right....I am sitting in the waiting area in Cairnryan...............very new, very clean and...........the place is crawling with cops........they're everywhere but friendly even to
this paddy.............!!!!
.
.
there is a massive police presence all over due I think to the g8 conference in county Fermanagh next week.................more on that later...!!
.
.
coffee and cookie.....
.
.

.
.
next thing.......up the ramp and into the bowels of the ship...............tied down quick and easy..........any amount of help you need is offered.......!
.
.
group of bikers tied up beside me are from Dundalk, Ireland or nearby.........they're in great form and loving life........great to see !
.
.

.
.
away away ...............boring photos on ship
.
.

.
.
.

.
.
.
full steam ahead now..
.
.

.
.
then 2 and a half hours later we are pulling into the harbour of Belfast...........see Samson and Goliath cranes in the distance (?!)...this is where the titanic was built
and many other massive boats before the shipbuilding industry slowly faded away overseas.........
.
.

.
.
more cranes and then off.....just jeans and jacket and a mad urge to fly up the road............
.
.

.
.
motorway for ever now......but making great time.....playing chicken with big s500 Mercedes..........passed the time anyways.........avoiding speed camera cars..
.
.
first stop was wee place called derrygonnelly in county Fermanagh..........note the shop front........it has photos in the windows to give the impression it is occupied !!!
.
.
every town and village in the county has the same.........it is to give the impression that these places are all busy.......truth is the recession has destroyed this border area
and there are far more closed businesses than open..............but we don't want the g8 pricks or the media to report on this...
.
.

.
.
once the media juggernaut moves on the recession can take its primary place in our society again !
.
.
I stopped again at churchhill as the bike was wandering over the poor road surface.............the front tyre was totally bald..well almost..!!!
not a stable feeling on bad roads..........
.
.
this is the church at churchhill..!!
.
.

.
.
apologies........bit more bike porn
.

the roads are closed all over the place but eventually I get back on the shore road west of Enniskillen......mega road this...........love it.......and some parts have been resurfaced for g8 crap so there are a few benefits I guess.
.
.
.

.
you can open up on this road though friends tell me there are deer all over the place...I've never seen one here yet....
.
.
still warm............great feeling and most unusual...............this is lough erne and the water calm for a change
.
.

.
.

.
.
on into village of belleek............famous belleek pottery made here and sold all over the world......the pottery building is in the background..
.
.

.
.
a few boats bobbing about and the setting sun..
.
.

.
.
and lastly a photo of typical derelict building.........
.
.
.

.
.
.
back on the bike............one more start....up with the stand.........off and away up the road home............not a bad trip.............not bad at all.........!!
.
.
.
.
..........thank you for your time............!!!!

Really enjoyed all of that. Cheers.

I've recently got back into bikes after an 18 year gap. Got an old GS500. I did the North Coast run on the Friday of the NW200, the decent day when there was no racing. That was my first proper run on the bike. The road between Ballycastle and Portrush was like a race track. A bit hectic for a noob but the scenery made up for it.

Maybe I'll get a chance to hit Scotland for a few days some time. Looks fantastic.

hey there ANDYMACH23.....
.
.
hope you are doing well......
.
.
the road you speak of is one of great significance for sure......it is amazing...i am presuming you live near enough to it to get using it often enough too !!
.
.
generally the roads up those parts are very good.......along the border some roads have become very potted...pitted and holey...no maintenance for years
.
.
they are a bit better south of the border at present (for years it was the other way round !)
.
.
sometimes down here though they dig up the whole road to put in phone wires, sewer pipes, gas, electric, fibre optic or just to be doing something....!!...it'd drive u mad...!
.
.
this was a good twister in lovely leitrim..nicely finished...camber set up good on most corners....and look what they did to it.........for 20 f**kin miles...!!
.
the photo shows the only straight bit but look at the surface....!!
.
at least they left the phone box alone......not many of these around now........not easy to remove either....but...eventually i'll figure a way...!!
.
.

.
.
keep her lit man - as they say here - keep her lit....!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
on a totally separate point (.) entirely.....!!
.
.
just got a phone call
.
.
.
from the punctuation police, they have been ringing me about overuse of the '.' - well, f**k you too.................!!!!!! ha..ha...ha...ha..ha..ha.....

...... indeed.

Thanks for the report. My wife (maiden name "Doyle"....) & I plan to visit the land of Eire within the next couple years. She has warmed up to the idea of seeing it by bike*. Stop in London first for a Triumph rental, ferry over, perhaps time it for a stop at the Isle of Man races. *Your report provided a great deal of supporting incentive for this notion.

.........
.....................
..............................hey SHOOBY.....................how life in san diegar.................? beautiful place that..............good times..............!!
.
.
when you are over here I will surely let you buy me a pint of porter...............no arguments.............!!!
.
.
.
you must allow time for your holiday over these parts............every road leads to a new story.....no need for maps as you always end up at the pub....!!
.
.
there is plenty of history in these parts too.............ignore the weather as it does what it does regardless......
.
.
I took a small spin last year into the wilds of Donegal.........very open country........poor lands...........irish spoken most places..........rugged
.
.

.
.
the hill is called errigal - highest mountain in Donegal.................barren looking lump I do think...............and f**k all use to the people...........!!
.
.
truth is. I was heading for glenveagh national park.........it was supposed to be worth a visit or so I was told.....
.
.
so after scooting round Donegal town...up through glenties (na gleannta) and on into dungloe (an cliach ?!) up over hills etc I finally came to glenveagh
.
.
big deal............big house in the middle of nothing................but a sickening history of the landlord era..........and not so long ago either...
.
.
.
this is the big lump of a house
.
.

.
.

.
.
long story short...............this bollox from county laois (used to be queens county, when the queens ruled Ireland) named adair bought up all the land and fecked out
all the tenants...all 244 of them............it was called the derryveagh evictions and happened around 1861.....around time of our famine era..........!!

so this adair...........john George adair to be precise, built this big pad (he held the rank of captain in the british diplomatic service).........he built this monument to hatred in
the middle of the poorest land in the country....kicked out all the local people...........including children...........most families eventually died of hunger but some made it
to Australia to a new start.

the ould basterd wanted to create a hunting estate in the highlands of Donegal...!!
.
.
he even built a kind of swimming pool thing...........see pic....but also note the state of the land over the other side of the lake......how could anyone survive living on this...
.
.

.
.
anyway..when you get to the entrance of glenveagh........it looks quite nice
.
.

.
.
you go into the visitor centre..flora............fauna..............etc etc.......but then you get to the section about the evictions...............the terror........the fear..........
the death of children.........and mothers............and fathers............whole community wiped out by one basterd...........
.
.
.
it was an emotive thing for sure.........................I was getting into a bit of a rage to be honest...............why......can't explain it...........it was as if I remembered..
.
.
so then you get on a bus to the house/castle and there is a tour all through the house..............but I couldn't.....I just could not go into that house.......no
.
.
I walked round outside and felt nothing only cold and damp and sick.................I got the next bus back to the car park.......got back on the bike and put some miles between me
and this monument to abuse.......
.
.
apologies if I got carried away there but it cuts to have this thrown up at you and for it to be considered part of a tourist trail.............jesus.is that not sick......
.
.
so on up the road when the rage ebbed and I calmed down I got it back together...
.
.

.
.
adair made more fortunes in the US and had tens of thousands of cattle and big farms........I just hope he died of festering piles............after a long long illness...!!
.
.
apologies again for being so heartless...............I'm not really..............but
.
more pics
.

.
.

.
.
note the telegraph poles on right hand side.......not one of them is upright..........!!!
.
.
.

.
.

.
.
as you can see the land does not support much, it never did really, that's why people always left here and fortunately were welcomed to many different countries all
around the world........for that we are ever thankful.........but this is what the people had to leave behind....!
.
.
don't mean to preach here............just one gray trip on a gray day in a gray country...........!!
.
.

.
.
with that I headed home...........and slowly the red mist lifted............and lifted...........and cleared..............and soon it was all so much better (porter helped too...!!!)
.
.
I have to try not to get uptight about things - to accept the things I cannot change...........and all the rest of it.......
.
.
SHOOBY.............it's much better than that really..............I'll post more uplifting stuff very very soon....
.

I'm from the NW corner of Oregon (Ore-ee-gun) so I'm quite familliar with all gray all the time..... It will be rather homey, I'm sure.

Looking forward to more of your history lessons and eventually sharing a dram or more ( dram? is that English only? hope not to offend..? please pardon this yank's ignorance if so....)

I'll post up when travel planning begins.....

And for good measure

"now, where was I" - said deValera when he got back into power......!!! deValera was our first leader and got voted out once upon a time
.
.
useless piece of info/trivia/bs/nonsense etc etc
.
.
i took a trip last year to the dolomite alps...the idea was in my head from reading on the wonderweb about all these passes and twisties...so it had to be done !
.
the bike was already in Italia so just needed to fly over, get a bus, get a train, get a taxi and there i would be......
.
left home in the west of ireland at 1 am and got on bike by 2 pm....bike starts first time......man oh man...sweet...!!!
.
up the road like f*ck...clean air...the idea was to stop at a place called Collepietra/Steinegg...... 3 or 4 hours max - or so I thought.
.

.
it felt great to be on the road where no one knew me or cared....just out up the hills/mountains and free....free.....free
.
.
whatever asshole like roads I was on...obviously not the direct route....as i am paddy and wouldn't know the correct route to anywhere...!!
.
.
so, not knowing my ass from my elbow, it was taking a whole shedload longer than it should have....no matter....im on holidays...end of...!!
.
...i am going to intersperse (big word that) this verbal diarrhea with some pics of flowers to bring out your feminine side along with the usual pics..please don't turn off your set yet.
.
first one..
.
.

i took all these flowers/green garden crap photos in Italy on holidays...i haven't a baldy what they are....what they are called or exactly which field i found them in.
.
.
being a paddy i go into a lot of fields...it's a genetic thing....i like to be near nature......not a gay thing, just a paddy thing...
.
.
anyway just to recap..i had full authority to behave as I pleased from the minister for war (!)....not really...but she loves me and is my best friend ever !
.
.
i think i passed one pass...!!!?....it was only a blip and there was a town built round it......memory not great..onward to Steinegg which I got to by about 8 pm or
shortly thereafter....it was dark...very cold.....icy.......and I had read about this place/palace (typo !) and it got great reviews.......mudderfugger.......!!
.
.
parked the horsie....into reception (me, not the horsie)......strange...everything is in german.......WTF.....did i take a wrong turn ?.....wir haben ein zimmer and all that jazz...ok...just go with die flowen here....plenty of zimmers....got taken down, way down (i do mean way way down) to a zimmer at the bottom of the world...the floor was
warm....(it was that far down !)...and i was left there standing in die dark...inside it was like going to the 70's (i haven't really been to the 70's only as a bairn)...
...it was as damp as a mushrooms knob......musty....shit hole......i thought f**k this crappen hole...but........where else could i go now.......i had stepped back to the 70's and landed in Germany....better ease up on the drugs soon...!!

flowery filler..
.

.
i should have known something was wrong and that i hadn't been through a time warp on the way over the mountains......the room/zimmer and - wait for it - 5 course
dinner and breakfast was a staggering 45 euros......!!!........
.
ok......go get some food....by now it was 9 pm.....i was malafustered with hunger....back up up up up and into the dining room...it was full/voll.......of Germans...!!!!...
.....i setzen'ed myself and over comes the waitress......nice........the whole thing of course was in German......f**k........just with the flow...alles ist gut.
.
.
picture this...i walked into the dining room in full black leathers...plain black....black leather boots....and my trousers were very very loose from the ass to the knees..!!
.....as i walked to mein table the other diners smiled and some even said 'jus' or hi........i felt like i was in a film from the second world war.....as gestapo...it was surreal...back to the 70's.....no it was back to the 40's....!!!
.
.
sauerkraut....wurst.....all of it inedible......5 courses of utter rubbish........but i felt pressured to eat it as people were staring at me....!!...i just smiled and waved...
just smiled and waved (penguins huh).
.
waffling a bit here as i had no photos taken until next day....
.
.
off to bed....just to further my belief of having time travelled..there was no phone signal..as handheld phones had not yet been invented...dumbkopf
.
.
next morgen...back up up up to the dining room fur mein fruhstuck....man, the food was brutal.....while mid-crunch a woman appeared at my side and shouted at
me....dein passport...or something like this....what.......passport - now...she roared.........relax woman..i said to myself.....!!
.
i thought maybe she was a guest who had been out on day release from the mental hospital so i tried to ignore her...but she just got freakin louder...so up i get...
back down down down to my cell and get my f**kin passport and up up i bring it to her...muttering nasty things under mein breath.....!!
.
then she says to me 'how many day's ?' .......!!! i was so in fear of being lynched by now i said 3 days/drei tage (asshole mistake or what ?)
.
she kept my bloody passport, so now i was doomed to be gang raped in my own cell deep underground and it would all happen many decades in the past.....mother of jesus do i get into some really f**kin
stupid situations...and this one hadn't even taken 24 hours from leaving home.
.
i go outside to ponder my latest screw up....i can't stay here another minute let alone 3 more days...so i go down to pack up my sh*t and deep breath....i head into
the gestapo headquarters/reception area again and try to explain that i have to leave immediately....i think i may have said i was neeeded in Berlin...!!
.
no intention here of insulting anyone from any country..it was all me and my screw up totally.....i am a pure cast iron 100 % numpty...!!
.
eventually......she threw my passport back at me in disgust, and I left without a backward glance.....!

in fairness the place looked very nice from the outside
and I am sure it had nice rooms...but mine was the worst ever....picture the worst place you ever stayed in and then multiply it by a zillion.
.
this is the place - yeah i know what you're thinkin...looks nice.....yeah real nice...go ahead mister...go stay there....
.

the mammary is coming back to me now....the route i took was roughly....varenna to morbegno to sondrio to edolo to , well you know it....Steinegg..
.
.
there were 2 passes along the way there...passo aprica (just a road with a town as i explained) and passo del tonale...also easy peasy.
.
total time to get to first base was 6 hours and only 300 km covered
.
.
passo del tonale...
.

.
.
greenery around Steinegg/Collepietra....very nice rolling hills
.

.
being a bit of a dumb ass, i had no idea of why so much German is spoken in Italy....all road signs/menus/adult bars/restaurants/etc all is in german...??
.
i was amazed about it really and found out since (wikipedia ?) that very generally this part of Italy was part of the AustoHungarian empire way back when and after the great war Italy was on the winning side and the treaty of versailles dudes split up the empire and gave this bit to the Italians (tyrol). But they obviously didn't ask the locals
and I would say they were a bit pissed off about it (i would be).

So i suppose they just kept it the way it was before......and hence my total confusion at the situation which awaited me there !
.
.
Anyways.....as I said I got the flock outta there a.s.a.p. and soon it proved to be a stunning area to be scooting around.
.
.
I was headed for Nova Levante and Karerpass....no idea what to expect but after stopping in a more Italian part and refuelling on coffee and brioche I was in much
better form.
.

.
.
I stopped at the Karersee...big disappointment...feck all water in da lake now...
.
.

.
.
bike parked up at lake.....disclaimer...i had a real crap second hand camera then and some were on phone...
.

.
.
.
is it time for some girly flower pictures I hear you ask.....well, not yet.........patience gets the worm...!!
.
.
water, what water...kein wasser..
.

.
.
now i could be very wrong but i think this might be Nova Levante.......if not what can i say ?
.
.

.
.
this was not a sprint in order to 'bag a pass' but when in the saddle it seemed the right thing to do to stay in the saddle and after all i had no one to share
this sh*t with other than my quieter more thoughtful alter ego...and for that sharing I could just ride on and argue it out with myself safe in the knowledge that
no one can see you talking to yourself when you are wearing a helmet...
.
.
this is the Karerpass...it being september and fine weather....the sky was blau
.

.
.
okay, okay girls..relax...here's your long awaited flowery thing
.
.

.
.
yeah, i know, it's just a close up of the last flowery thing......but those pointy things with swollen heads remind me of something.....not sure what...but...
.

more blue skies..
.

.
.
this was the Karerpass..
.
.

.
the head was clearing now and the weather was wunderbar/fantastico...so all was well inside my helmet/lid....go to thinking about why ?....why everything..??
.
.
the thinking of why ? took up many precious seconds and soon it was time to eat again..so i had to ferret out an eatin house soon
.
.
last of Karerpass
.

.
.
yeah it's time for another flowery thang....and starting off gently enough with a green and white number...
.
.

.
.
I was heading for the passo di sella...it was supposed to be good ride......it was fine - oh so very fine it was...
.
the ould vstrom has no fancy computer thing in it to make the gearing a bit better so it was a constant dropping down and up gears 1'st 2'nd 3'rd
there just wasn't enough grunt in 2'nd for swift turns on the twisties...this was to last the whole trip but in reality i truly didn't give a flying f**ck.
.
.
touching down at the pass.......lot of bikes scooting around.........cool
.
.

.
.
this one from my phone, so it's all mixed up dude...all mixed up -
.
.

.
.
a bunch of HD riders landed in front of me....it looked cool to be honest and they were having a mighty time...they were from north austria HD club
.
.

.
.
the scenery was amazing and i only had myself and my other self to share it with but we made the most of it anyways...we upped and awayed and soon pulled in
with the HD club/gang/group/party...
.

.
.
ciao sella
.
.
next stop was to be passo di gardena i think...but as always i could be wrong...we could both be wrong as it happens
.
this is close up of the rock...f**kin boring i know but there it is..
.

.
.
and bessie the bike tooo...
.
.

.
.
and another rock.....in truth....all the feckin rocks looked much the same to me...there you go.....
.
.

.
.

.
.

.
.
see what i mean..all looks the same..
.
.
lot of cable car type things for skiing in the winter round these parts..it must be amazing in the winter (see left side of pic)
.
.

.
.
from the garden passo........eating again....ha ha ha ha ...............
.
.

.
apparently these mountains are among the youngest (relatively i suppose) and they looked fairly crumbly from where i stood so how long will they last ?
.
.
answer that one.
.
moving right along i was to head for passo di valparolo...more mega scenery and bikes and green and blue and rock and...
.
.

.
.

.
.
.
you are probably sick to the back teeth by now of these pictures.......i know i am so i'll terminate for now with a luvly luvly picture of something just for you.
.
.
i know you only read this nonsensical (!), personal, horseshit, wankerish, screwed up diatribe in oder to see a photo of luvly flowers and such...!!!
.
well, god bless you, one and all
.
