I think the small seal at the pinion end is fairly easy if you have the tools.
There is a problem with the large seal on the ring side if you are doing that one. I did this over ten years ago when we still had the same gaskets as the rear ends were built with. The modern gasket, if you get one new from BMW, is thicker than the original and it's use will change the side spacing of the ring gear so it requires re-shimming of the set up.
That is what we have been told. I heard one rider talking about measuring the gasket thickness and changing the shims in accordance to his measurements. I don't know if he had any luck with this procedure, if it worked at all or is still working.
I guess all this means you are supposed to send to somebody that can do the job correctly if doing the large seal.
But you should be OK doing the small one.
