ST1300 in Mexico?
I been a lurker here for a while now and just decided to pop in. My name is Kenny and I live in NC. I bought an ST13oo a couple of months ago and have put about 7000 miles on it. I have a Suzuki Volusia that may be up for sale or trade. I am looking for a DS... maybe a KLR650. I've got a terrible itch to ride down into Mexico. I would love to ride down to Creel in October but I don't know if I will have the bike for it by then. How will the ST do on Mexican roads. I don't think I want to ride much gravel with it.
Just got back from a trip to Colorado if anyone is interested. Kenny |

I rode my ST 1100 to Baja and it did fine. The topes give the plastic a bit of fun in cases. The paved roads around Creel are great on a sport bike but you should forget about the road to the canyon on it. There are lots of rather rough paved roads in the area which might loosen up the plastic and bottom out the suspension. People ride there on Harleys and Gold Wings even some too. Just stay on the pavement and don't get upset if your paint gets some rock chips.

The roads to Creel and El Divisadero are all nicely paved.

I don't think I would want to take my K1200LT because of a ground clearance issue over the speed bumps. If you don't have problems clearing the average speed bump, the bike should be plenty fun.
