A cn250 honca helix drive shaft question

Rather then change out drive shaft on my 1998 cn250 . I was consider just use the drive shaft and the cover it s in off a spare 86 cn250 engine. Any reason that will not work? Save me pound it out and changing seal and bearing. As for as I can tell there the same parts and all that fun stuff. All I have to do is change the gasket then. Outside of it needs cleaning as can be seen by the white shit

Could doublecheck with the parts depstment at a Honda store. They were helpful enough to tell me a final shaft of a newwer elite would work in my 85, which I've already installed and it's working great.

Cause if the part number is the same it'll work anyways.
