I don't know if I like it, yet --- still no bike --- but I have the SW-Motech light bar. The paperwork reads "HAWK Light Mount Set". Bad picture at http://www.snafu.org/pics/r1200gsw/2013/0608-light-bar/

Farkles

Panniers - Holan frames and HDT classic boxes 30 + 36l
H&B - Engine guards and rear luggage plate
Pivot Pegs
Tank bag - modified from the old GS. Great to recycle good kit.
Radguards - impressed with these. Worth the hassle of sending the bracket via post to get them fitted. Great service and quick turn around

Is that bar flat, or does it have curved parts? How many places does it attach to the bike? I see what might be a couple of spacers that bolts go through to mount it?

The bar is flat. There are two threaded inserts for ?. There are holes in each end of the bar for mounting lights. Not having a bike yet I don't know how/where it fits on the bike. I suppose I could look at the instructions... Or even better... scan them for you.

Does that answer your question?

According to that photo, you cant hang a light from the bottom of the bracket? I wonder why? Maybe a clearance issue? I have one of these brackets on order and planned on hanging some lights from the bottom to work in conjunction with the light mounts I made that have the lights up higher. Hmmmm. I may have to rethink how things will come together.

I noticed the same warning when I scanned the doc. Not having the bike yet I can't be sure if there is an issue or not or whether the issue may depend upon the specific lights. I plan on trying to mount my Hella Micro DE on the bottom unless someone tells me why it can't be done.

It MAY be because the light bar is intended to be used with the SW-motech upper crash bars. They may get in the way if the light is mounted below. Since I'm not using the SW-Motech crash bars (upper or lower) that will be a non issue for me. I hope that is the reason for the warning.

Thats a good point. I bet thats it. I do have the bike and looked all over it trying to figure out where to mount lights. I don't see any reason why lights wouldn't work mounted on the bottom if the engine guards weren't there.

It could also be that anything hanging below blocks air flow to the radiators.

This is my thought, I will have to check mine to be sure.

I just installed both the lower and upper SW-MOTECH guards and shame on me for not checking earlier, I thought the light bar was included with the upper guards (thats how it sounded when Twisted Throttle got their set). Sucks to have finally finished the wiring and not be able to mount the lights. I had to do the wiring twice basically as the Skene IQ-175 controller I purchased didn't work with my application.
