Now for curious blokes "& Sheilas" that know me this is where i have been hiding in Montana. It was like looking at a painting / picture on the wall and walking right into it to become part of it.

The lake right next to the cabin where i could hear the moose of a night calling and see the turtles of a morning swimming.

Plus i was helping Krispin catch Pack rats. I think the total was over forty odd.

The wonderful people that live in Eureka enabled me to fulfill my other passion of horse riding.
I got to ride the high country where some of the switch backs made the horse fully flex left and right. Along the edges were sheer drops of hundreds of feet. Probably some of the best trail riding i have done, was up to Bluebird lake & Wolverine cabin.
This paint horse was sold to an ex army guy with one leg the next day. Was good to talk with him about military life during ops etc. He lost his leg due to a IED. But he loves his hunting and horses so it was good to see him getting out there amongst it despite his setbacks.

Wolverine Cabin.

Bluebird lake.

I was told the day after our little Jaunt up into the high country that Two Grizzly's fake charged some horse riders in the exact same are where we were riding. Seems plausable as there were lots of Huckleberries to be had. However buying them at $50.00 per gallon was less risky.

Great pics Hodgo, keep em coming. You planning on retiring in that area, sure seems plausible enough to me.

I've got this same shot somewhere. I was there in '89 & '91 and took the trip up to the Glacier. Athabasca Glacier if I remember correctly?
That Icefeild parkway is scenery overload.

My wife and I had just got back to Kamloops from a two day ride on the Harley and there was a message on my cell phone from Hodgo that he was in town the day before, I thought shit missed him. would have liked to see him, just as I layed the bike over on the kick stand I heard the sound of a 950 super enduro pull into my driveway , wow there was Hodgo, he was going to try one more time to see if I was home. Long story short, he ended in staying for a couple of days to do some maintance on his bike and get a new front tire. Today he left for Alaska, a bit bitter sweet, as I was sad to see him go but happy he was on his adventure, so all you blokes up there in Alaska, Whitehorse or places in between give Adrian (aka Hodgo) a shout , a place to stay, if you can, or just conversation, your life will be better for it as he is an amazing person. Enjoy your adventure mate and you will always have a place to park your bike and lay your head here in Kamloops. diverdown

Since he's an Aussie...maybe he thinks it's the beginning of Spring in Alaska.

just checked out Hodgo,s spot and he is in Vanderhoof. bc. heading to the Yukon via the stewart, cassier highway, we talked about it today over breakfast and thought it would be the better route as more scenery and less traffic, he will come back down the Alaska highway from Watson lake on his return. you put on some km,s today mate. diverdown

Hey there fellas. If anyone is watching my spot you would have noticed me back track to smithers a couple of days ago.

Managed to blow a hose on the oil return line back to the oil tank.

Quickly trip back to smithers for meeting hose & clamps & I was going again.

Temps have been mostly 22degC during the day & up to 26
Drops down to 10-11degC over night. So piece of piss weather wise so far

No fuel at new hope lake so the Safari tank can in handy with 300km range needed. Easily did that on 17ltrs.

Crap wifi at the Baby nugget campground but a shower & good feed was great.

Front Tyre has 12,000 kms & will get a couple more out of it yet. Pirellie mt21

The rear shinko has 4,500 & about half worn.

Stay tuned.

Made it to Whitehorse, temps dropping down to 19degC. Bit of wind today but seems to be coming from behind (tailwind).
So pictures of my little miss fortune after replacing the little o ring for the gear shift indicator.(Thanks Bob). Typical that just when you fix one thing up the road another crops up. Just goes to show that you can't possibly plan for all things, hence No Planning.

Luckily i was a tad overfull on oil so its back to normal now.
Top hose is smaller than the bottom hose, one would ask why not make them the same size. ooh and i HATEbthose crimp hose clamps that KTM insist on using.

Across from my campsite at burns lake.

Almost looks like waves rolling in the fog over the lake.

Some locals were catching salmon here to sell, they were averaging about one every four or five minutes.
Also this is where i turned back to smithers after noticing too much oil on the ground after id stopped.

These bridges have steel mesh to cross so makes it interesting with knobby tyres. Would think that ice and or wet would be very interesting indeed.

The Yukon river. had a little break here. roads are a lot like Australia with large distances of nothing interrupted by fuel stops, so had five minutes breaks every 150kms or so.

Seen a few bears on the side of the road but wasn't quick enough with the camera.
Great to see things like this, just a shame Australia doesn't recognise our Military the same way.

More on highway 37

I did see this moose just chilling.

glad you made it north of 60!

what did you think of Dease Lake? I lived there for two years when I was a Park Ranger

If you have the time and the weather is clear, I recommend a side trip from Whitehorse down to Skagway AK. Skagway is a bit touristy and old-timey but the road down is breathtaking if it's not overcast. You can do there and back in an easy day.

Bears are fattening up for winter now, so don't eat in your tent or they'll come nosing around at 2 in the morning looking for grub.
