I ran a xr650l out to birdsville and across the desert then home via the plenty hwy. At hwy speeds with a load, it drank fuel like a V8 and oil like a ringer drinks bundy cans on a Friday night..

Never missed a beat though..

Any model with a rear disc brake. '91 onwards, from memory, they didn't change after that. You can't improve on perfection.

Yeah Dello 400???

Is it good in the old girls?

I buy it by the 20ltr drum for my holden rodeo. Ran it in my ktm625, but it burnt it, so switched to motul 5100

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

No not Rods Trev, he sells Blue & Green. Horsepower Longreach sell Red & Yellow. He has a few good second hand L's in stock as well.

Outback Jack tells me they are imported by a Longreach shop.

Bikes usually cost a grand freight from the U.S. so it would be an interesting and hassle free purchase from Longreach if it is true.

Got a spare 2002 ADR frame sitting here for just that purpose although I think ADR would be cheap if shared amongst a group, I emailed the mob some time ago but can't remember the details, think it was 3 grand for compliance run through and they would stamp the group or something like that.

Yikes, 6k for a new bike from U.S. + 1k freight + 3k ADR, under 10k complianced even if you only did one bike and cheaper for more than one.

Mind you these 650L's go really cheap sometimes and if you don't mind being told your bike is old you can just shovel new parts into it.

I buy it in the 20L as well, if you found it evaporates I might switch between the two on my next run to check it out with a new piston/bore.
I put an oil cooler on and dropped oil temp from 125c to 105c thinking it would be ok, when I pulled the engine apart for the kicker before Birdsville the new 2000k wiseco had big buildup on top so i thought it was just the sloppy piston burning it and did not have time to go the bore and piston route so it went back in.
The fact that I can get delo400 at any servo appeals to me and I always carry a litre anyway.
5100 overpowers my deodorant and costs more but it is a good oil, both 600's used it to the cape.
