Umm, OK, but pictures are 2 dimensional.

The SR seat is flatter and if you squint, it appears slightly more narrow across the whole width of the seat from pillion area to the tank. It does need a high front fender to make it the SM the want to represent it to be...

Where'd you find those photos? I really like the first one.

When you mentioned an SM it made me think about the exhaust needing to be re-routed up, like a dirt bike. Then I noticed that the exhausts are shaped differently in the two photos. Wonder why?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not so crazy about the gold forks. Maybe black would be more modern & sleek looking? Gold always makes me think that they want you to believe something is "special", when it really isn't.

(You know how chain restaurants smother their bbq ribs in sweet sticky sauce, hoping you'll think it's authentic. )

The SR pic is from here: http://motorcycleindustry.co.uk/yama...w-motorcycles/
click on the small pics to expand. good read, too....

the burple one is from here: post 46 from this thread.

The different exhaust was one of the first things I noticed. To me, the plastic panels around the fake intake ports make that area look better. Again, HIGH FENDER...

I hear ya about the fender. That'll be a good niche aftermarket item. You can't just slap a flimsy plastic dirt bike fender on this bike.

Right, but the third dimension you can't see is the dimension in question, the width of the seat. I've never said Yamaha's "slim seat" on the SR has anything to do with it's length or height, only it's width...though you responded to me that (you believed) the SR's seat is thicker because it doesn't have the dip of the standard -09 seat, as if to correct me. But that response was irrelevant because you were responding to me yet I wasn't even talking about any seat's height dimension as you were; we weren't talking about the same things.

dirtdreamer's pics should clear this up for you.

The MT-09 SR looks like a botched Japanese Super Duke to me.

Every pic I find, including this one from the EU site, shows that exhaust on the SR. The official video uses it, too, and it does sound good.

Or "Mad Max". Rossi makes it look good, though.

If Yamaha made a version of the FZ09 that mimic'd this

I would pay a LOT more than $7990
