the luggage appears to be the "Bags-Connection Blaze Sport Saddlebag System" as sold by twistedthrottle.com. I didn't see it for the fz09 on their website so that just means yamaha already designed their own stand-off rod for the bags and twisted throttle still doesn't have any delivered from their machinist/fabricator yet.

they want $344 including the rods for other bikes[fz1 &fz8].

With the ending of production of XR1200, maybe AMA will open a racing class series for the 09 in the future. Other than that I can't see the expense of all cls' mentioned changes, when, in stock form, it is already hard to keep the front end on the ground, and over 90-100 mph, the wind blast is going to make the ride unenjoyable anyway. To each his own, though.

Raining here, but happy riding to all who can, today. tp

That probably means the tank bag is also a SW-Motech/Bags Connection piece as well, which bodes well for the quality (and it's tank ring system too). On further inspection, the frame sliders and kickstand extension look like SW-Motech bits too.

And Giles and Harris are making some of the billet pieces in the MT-09 accessory catalog as well.

Keep in mind Twisted Throttle is just a distributor for SW-Motech/Bags Connection, they don't make the stuff themselves, they just get it shipped in from Germany.

Owners, what are you getting for gas mileage in normal commuting? Read that as (sort of) trying to get good mpg's.

Thanks.

I was hoping to add one of these to the garage but the $2200 insurance quote will make me pass for a while. I guess street triple is my best bet now.

Not me, but here's a data point:

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/buckdow/fz09

Looks like 50+ is there if you want it. I bet 35mpg average is there if you want that, too.

Wonder if the steep drop was from city driving or the right hand..... Probably right hand since less than 20% was city.

Thanks. I saw that one. I was hoping some additional folks on here had some info. Perhaps even a little more reliable or, at least, definitive readings.

2200!! HOLY CRAP!!!! I looked at a 2011 Ninja 1000 and I was quoted 1025 a year. Yes, I passed on it.

My full coverage Geico insurance is ~$700 a year on the FZ09, more then any other bike I've had including an Aprilia Tuono 1000cc Vtwin or CBR 600.

Jeez, are you 16 with 3 DUI's??

My new DL with full coverage is around $500 a year.

Sounds like you should buy two. 1 for riding and 1 spare.

I think the insurance underwriters have seen all the cool videos of FZ-09 holeshots, wheelies, and stoppies.
