DARC II Adventure Bike Ride, June 16, 2013, Woodstock, VT

DARC II rider participation decal.

DARC (Dirty Adventure Riders Club) II will be held out of Woodstock, VT on Sunday June 16th. Fred Scott will lead us on a early summer tour of Vermont's best back roads and scenic mountains and valleys. The ride will include a lunch stop at one of Fred's choice locations. Big bike friendly with optional hero sections for smaller bikes and more experienced riders. Knobbies highly recommended. Only quiet (OEM mufflers) legally registered four stroke bikes only. ATGATT is mandatory. Dress for the crash, not the ride.

The ride will cover approximately 100+miles consisting of about 85% dirt roads/15% tar with the emphasis on Vermont scenery. Perfect for BMW GS's, Tigers, 990 KTM's, KLR's, DR650's etc.

Start location is: 525 Woodstock Rd in West Woodstock which is route 4. Pull into Meadow Way and take first left at the green barn. If you come to the Ottauquechee Motor Lodge you've gone too far. Ride will start at 9:00am. Fuel up before the ride. Call 603-440-8495 if lost or running late.

Meadow Way is on Rt 4 between Woodstock and Bridgewater. It is on the right side of the road heading toward Bridgewater across from the Ottauquechee River which parallels Rt 4. The location will be marked with a string of KTM flags at the junction of Meadow Way and Rt 4.

***Only quiet bikes please*** Camping available Saturday night. Come up and enjoy Fred's fire pit while sitting under the stars.

In.

I will be camping, as well. If you can PM me the address I can set up my tent, that would save *a lot* of time riding around Vermont trying to find it...

I can just say some new areas and roads, couple of Hero sections, with by passes. South Woodstock, Hartland, Plymouth, and Reading are where we will be traveling!!
Camping and Start address is 65 Meadow way, or 525 Woodstock Rd, which is route 4, if you have not updated your GPS. Park at the green barn, Look for the KTM banners on the Meadow way Street sign.
I have not completed the route, but it will be at least 125 miles, so buckle up, and come have some fun.

For you campers, if you want to cook some dinner we have a outside grill, Yes I also have a bathroom for your use!

No problem. You'd have a ball on it. Just be sure you have at least 50/50 tires on it.

Count me as a definite maybe.

Fredo, will there be gas en-route for us small-tank folks?

Off topic...

Skip, I sold the KLR to a chap from Nairobi, Kenya. He asked me if I could deliver. Of course I said yes on his dime but it turned out he has a home in Mass. too. Apparently he's going to export it himself for his bike tour company. The saga continues!

I took it off road once. 575lbs was not fun so I put Michelin PR3 street tires on and made it my touring bike. I need a reason to ride the little xt. When are we riding?

Laugh

Weather is looking good for the weekend!! Did a preride yesterday, more blow downs, Hero sections very wet! So we will have about 135 miles, of senic Vermont dirt roads, with some nice views. Gas at 50 and 100 miles !
This is a knobby tire ride, mud is a wonderful equalizer. So new roads and some old ones. Camping still available, on site!
Any one who can make it up Saturday, we can tour around, in the white rocks or more!! just let me know what time, so I am here!!

Thought I was going to miss this one, but my schedule just opened up.

Really enjoyed DARC I. We'll see if I can collect all the DARC stickers this year.

I'd like to take advantage of the camping. Thanks for opening up your place to us, Fred. Due to various honey-do projects, I probably won't arrive until 7-7:30. If you guys are out for dinner or riding, don't rush back on my account.

I'm definetly in for the ride. I'm also working up a Saturday ride over and up the PDR from RT 9 to RT 4. I'll know by Friday arvo if that's a goer and will take up your kind offer of camping, grill, and bathroom for Saturday night, Fred. Look forward to meeting folks, working the tech sections, and enjoying the scenic riding.
