North of Lake Superior

That country up there, the geological formation known as the Canadian Shield, holds my attention like few other places in the world. Took an afternoon ride. Was miserable. Sometimes the best rides are those which are miserable in the moment, but in hindsight have a little whiff of adventure. I promised myself not to take any chances, and I didn't, but I'm pleased with my little camping trip.

Driving up the north shore of Lake Superior, I spotted an interesting cloud formation sweeping ashore. It moved very swiftly and you really needed a video to appreciate it.

15 seconds and it was gone.

I pulled in to the park at Cascade River and settled in.

Had a nice night camping and then went for a little run on the trails in the morning.

After diddling around until afternoon waiting for it to warm up, I decided to try to go scout out a small loop of trails.

It only got up to 47 degrees and was raining continuously.

Hypothermic at this point because I delayed adding layers too long.

The next day dawned sunny and clear, but it was still only 48 degrees. Called it quits.

Amen.

Looks great Klay. I like the north shore but don't get up there often enough. Never been there on 2 wheels.
Woods look pretty soggy- same here in the U.P.
Cheers,
Dave

Sorry the scouting didn't work out. People are reporting it is still too wet for the two tracks. Looks like that cold and wet took the fun out of it. I added what you were able to get to the project file. Won't be long and there will be a nice collection of DS rides up there for people to download and enjoy. You do so well in highlighting what a nice area it is!

Some great shots, the North Shore is one of my favorite places in the country. It's just too bad I have to drive north through the cities and face the hoards of terrible drivers just to get there....
